Im a mess

Boy did I screw up.....

I saved my maps in a folder to the Desktop (that's good)

thought a clean NEW install would be good and uninstalled the game. (thats bad)

Tried to reinstall from my discs and reached a snag at Disc 2

IT says it cannot read a file needed to begin running Disc 2

Is there a Safe place to just download the basic game again?

Everyone on the New Maps servers knows my Dad, Errorproned...what they don't know is how mad he is at me!

DJ Adler, you can download just the game without any expansion packs or custom maps from https://team-simple.org/download/Battlefield_1942.zip

Then, you need to run Battlefield 1942 GameSpy patch to be able to update the server lists inside the game.

Strange side note: I can only see the 4 Simple servers now

Download and extract the latest BF1942 executable and overwrite BF1942.exe file in your Battlefield 1942 directory, or just run Battlefield 1942 GameSpy patch, which will do that automatically. Now, clicking the Update button in-game will retrieve the servers list.

Can /download/Battlefield_1942.zip be made to include the patched executable so only one install is needed?

Those maps Essen, Hellendorn, etc. are from Secret Weapons of WW2 expansion pack. You can download the Battlefield 1942 expansion packs from:

Mind that, you must run the Battlefield GameSpy patch, or replace BF1942.exe with the latest BF1942 executable, after you install every expansion pack, because each expansion pack installer mistakenly replaces the BF1942.exe with an outdated one. That will be corrected in due time.

Yes, of course. It should have been already updated, but it will be in the next days.

That would be awesome. I feel like it could help in bringing in new players. Sadly many people are turned off as soon as they find out a manual patch is necessary. The easier the process between downloading and playing the better.

That would be great. Datafield is the future, especially if people would start using direct server-client map send feature
