Big fan back in the day.....want back in

Hi guys,

I've been reading/searching the posts and there seems to be alot of uber-knowlegebale people here so I am hoping someone can help.

I have the original CD and want to start playing again. I need a noob-level, step-by-step, tutorial on how to reinstall the game on a windows-7, 64 bit, pc to play online. The game installs ans starts fine but no servers available. When I applied the suggested patch i get 'No Battlefield 1942!'.

I would be eternally grateful for any help anyone could give.

Thanks.

JRF1

If you have installed from the original CD's there is a likely hood that you are missing some patches, do you remember 1.61 and then the 1.61b?

Try this:
Install the game from your CD's as you did before.
Download 1.61 and 1.61b and apply them in that order and then apply the GameSpy patch as above a see how that goes.

You can find 1.61 and 1.61b here : http://www.planet-fun.co.uk/index_sub3.html

I seem to remember this same thing came up before a while ago smile

Hello,

Did you install Battlefield 1942 from original CDs? If so, after you install the game, apply Battlefield patch v1.6 (http://www.gamershell.com/download_5004.shtml) and then Battlefield 1942 GameSpy patch v1.61 (http://team-simple.org/download/battlef … _v1.61.exe).

An Alternative would be Gametracker. Install GT lite, make account on the Gametracker site and youve got some nice benefits like lot of servers tracking(server sites, players online, active maps and so on). If installed, you just have to join Gametracker, lock in your account, choose game in the list(Bf1942), click on servers and choose one - you will join atutomatically. You can also find some players there for comunity and so on.

Oi!

Thanks guys. I appreciate everyone taking the time.

With the patches, do I need to extract them to a particular place or just from my desktop?

Re: Big fan back in the day.....want back in

...

The *.exe are searching the right patch itself as long the Bf1942 folder is written to the registry. If you can't install them, tell me, and i tell you what you have to do. (Perhap you would have also the possibility to choose the folder. Then choose "...\Battlefield 1942\" folder.)

If you have the AfterGamespayPatch which is only packed, extract it to Desktop and from there to Bf1942 folder.

(ModsFolders from PatchFolder to overwrite mods folders in Bf1942Folder and bf1942.exe to overwrite same bf1942.exe in Bf1942 folder.)

...

Hi JRF1

The patches are the original EA files so as long as your installation from the CD's has placed your BF1942 installation in the correct place i.e "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942" then all you need to do is open the exe files and watch the magic happen smile
