Although I like the realism, I criticize the tank driving experience the mod was using, apart from lack of singleplayer/coop support (as some maps have trenches which bots cannot be used due to lack of 3D AI pathmapping). And unfortunately, I don't see any active or populated server/s for Finnwars these days.

So I think i'll only download this mod for archiving purposes.

Driving the tanks is strange at first, however, overall, the mod seems very good and well polished. There is an unofficial fan-made patch to add coop to some maps, I believe.
In National Finland's holiday, somewhere around December, lots of finnish players join Mediatraffic server to play FinnWars mod. Server is usually full at 64 players the whole day. This is the server hosting FinnWars: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ … 175:14567/

I'd have to say, as an ex mod tester this mod is definetly among the best mods out there. Everything, from texturing to mapping is executed finely and I especially liked the new radio commands and the sound editing in general. To those who are criticizing the mod for lack of AI support I can understand this was a major letdown however I do believe bots have been added in the newer patch. Also try the Objective mode on Murmansk_Railroad with a dozen people, its quite something.

Without doubt I agree. But the weird part was the "devil" voice-over when the player wants to get out on the battle... XD

IIRC, I've already tried to use the previous unofficial patch (FinnWarsSP) before but without success, it just CTD while loading. So I'll try the new one posted from Battlefield singleplayer.

I check the new FinnWarsSP patch and it works well except for one, the player cannot choose any soldier class and only "Soldier" (I think Rifleman would be appropriate) were set as default.

Resurrecting this thread with promotion. For me this mod is the best, on par with Forgotten Hope, good mix of reality and gameplay. Frankly it deserves more players, and I'm hoping people here will come and try. Usually the server is active around 20:00 at Finnish time, UTC+2. Every year, as december's Independence Day gets closer, FinnWars gets more active. Around the beginning of december, there's atleast one full 64 player server with backup server often needed.

Its not a personal favorite, but the mod is really good. It has some code i havent seen anywhere else in it. Well worth a try.

The mod is made by IceFlake Studios, the developers that just made an icefishing game on steam called "Ice Lakes" recently.

Sometimes you find the Server Mediatraffic FinnWars 1.82. The Finnish people play this mod usually most to her Independence Day at 6 dec. Best you go to the server at 5pm CET, its the best time to meet some players there or to get some players.

If do you try to play this mod in Singleplayer or COOP mode you are right. Because FinnWars only support the Multiplayer Conquest Mode. If do you connect to any server (best mediatraffic official FinnWars Server) you can able to play this mod online.

Sadly they collected 6 thousand, when they had planned to have 100 thousand €, with the purpose to add their own money as well to make it 200k. But their promotion work was imo weak, no hype or even knowledge outside the most experienced/inner circle of FW players. People simply had no idea to support it, so no wonder the goal wasn't achieved. I'm still hoping the project gets resurrected, in my wildest dreams with public funds from culture ministry (100th anniversary of Independence next year, 1917-2017).

In the meanwhile, Finnwars badly needs active players to attract inactive players and create that hype, that gets people moving. The server's gametracker is observed by many people, so just by idling at the server attracts players, so patience is the key.

Alright bump time. A week to the Independence Day! The server is growing, getting more and more players and on next tuesday, look for a backup server being needed due to the amount of players. But we need more fighters, especially foreign contignents! So come, get your friends along and fight, starting from tomorrow!
