I play under Sam-I-Am and have for a long time. I have played on your server off and on for a long time and recently quite a bit. First of all, I would like to thank you for providing a challenging and entertaining place for us to play and also compliment your admins. They do a good job of balancing fun vs power and do a very good job at keeping a clean playing environment offered for us.

Tuia, tonight I was chatting with flick and a couple others and had no idea you got booted for saying “cheat”. You can ask any of your admins…I am not a problem maker, I play hard and clean and don’t call folks names, unless it is in jest and most of them know me and know I am kidding. Tonight, someone said I used a big word and I said I had a “cheat sheet”. I got kicked.

I came back and said God must not have liked me saying a couple of things
And then I added “cheat”, thinking I would get kicked again…since I had already jacked what I had done in the game, I felt that I would just log back on.

Little did I know, the second infraction of posting cheat is a ban.

I want to apologize for taking lightly something you take seriously. I understand that your server is your house and I was disrespectful of your rules. I would also ask that you show some leniency in taking into account the manner in which I used the word. I think Flick will vouch for me (on this occasion only), that I was not being disruptive. In the future, I can promise that this infraction will never occur on your server again. I get the message.

I have a feeling that sometimes players trick opponents into getting themselves kicked by baiting them into saying banned words.
I've seen players write things like "Hey, (name) why do you cheet?" Then when the other player responds, but with correct spelling, they get a warning.

Seems I am not the only one who finds this banned word "Ch**t" a bit ridiculous. You can come to the server and call someone a Nazi or a Nigger and that is fine but use the word Ch**t and you are hung out to dry. This has been the case forever but I still think it is the most ridiculous banned word on this server, although I also thought I was alone in my opinion :-) http://team-simple.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=235

Cheat and hack are banned words to avoid discussing about it in server chat, I believe it's logical why so. Nigger is also a banned word. Nazi is not, which means a national socialist. It has nowadays a derogatory connotation as a means of thought control.

This is indeed interesting that you think that players would not wish to discuss something that is very relevant to this game such as cheating and hacking but instead would like to talk about each others political persuasions?

I was under the impression that the server existed for players to play not for political debate and yet if they discuss gameplay they run the risk of being kicked or banned. To a player of Jewish faith I can only imagine that the word Nazi would be offensive as would be the name of Hitler but after reading some old posts on this forum I can see that in some places Nazism is alive and well.

Not sure I agree with the "thought control" bit but if rounding up millions of people and systematically annihilating them is some form of thought control then I guess it is true but as the Nazi party was outlawed in Germany at the end of WW2 and is now effectively illegal isn't calling someone a Nazi also classed as offensive?

DinkW, of course we are against holocaust,and what happened in general, and it makes me cry when i see documentaries about what nazi germany did to these poor people , but this is another topic, and i am not trying to open those wounds.
What i am interested is in hearing your opinion about, what Israel ( politics /army / guns /etc, you name it ) sistematically did/does to the Palestinians, in the past 50 years ?
I don't see it any different from what germans did to your people .
can i hear your thoughts., pls ?

Although I am sort of pleased that you would be interested in my opinion regarding the current crisis in Israel/Palestine but as I have said in an earlier post this server is not for political debate but for gameplay debate. With that said I will say this and this only "The thing that has caused more bloodshed war and death is the very thing that preaches against it from any ethnic background and that thing is religion"

Please also understand I am not Jewish so it was not my people that the Nazi regime persecuted but I will not allow the name Hitler or the word Nazi on either of my servers for the reason stated earlier.

This is all getting too heavy so back to the original point are you going to let Sam play again?

In terms of calling someone a Nazi in a game where at least half the maps feature a Nazi verses Allied situations, regardless of your opinion of either side, it would be impractical to ban the word "Nazi", or any other war-time slur. Personally I cringe when I hear players talking about killing "Japs" and "Yellow people" because I'm currently living in Japan and I have a fair affiliation to the locals.

In regard to the use of banned accusational words, as in any game, online or otherwise, accusing someone of playing outside of the rules will certainly cause a break in the immediate game-play and will encourage a situation where players are forced to discuss or defend their actions, thus interrupting the game itself. Therefore, the good people at SiMPLE have created a forum where players can discuss such issues outside of the game itself and not interrupt the game-play of others.

As for the rest of the opinions voiced in this thread, considering their irrelevance to the original concern, i will ignore them.

In the few times when I have had the honour to play against Mr. Suess, he has always been kind enough to give me practical lessons in how not to play this game. For this reason I hope his ban is not too long, for without players of his calibre to provide competition, we are little more than the victims of team-swapping TKer looking for their next kill.

Why should Hitler or Nazi be banned and Stalin not? Let's do a quick history reminder. Stalin was a jewish mass murderer, killed millions of ukrainians and russians after WWII with his starvation and Gulag camps, not to mention his atrocities before and during the war. My grandfather was in the conc. camp and it was just his good luck that he managed to escape
the shooting. He was 7 years old at the time. By the things he told it sure wasn't as roses and butterflies as you write.

First of all…no one tricked me into saying cheat. I totally was using the term in a totally different aspect. When I got kicked for using it the first time, I should have respected the fact that using the term wasn't allowed on the server. Instead, I was a smart ass and said it again. My consequence was getting banned. It was my fault. I should have known better.

Secondly, I never said saying the word cheat was ridiculous. Regardless of what my feelings are towards what is or isn't an offensive word…I respect the fact that I am playing on someone’s server who has rules and if I want to continue playing on that server, I must abide by those rules. I enjoy playing on this server. It is admin’ed very efficiently and this allows for competitive play, as well as fun. What else could anyone want?

Thirdly, I have played this game an embarrassingly very long time. People do use offensive names. I use to really get whacked out about that, but have come to realize, this is just part and parcel of a public offering. People like to draw attention to themselves in the oddest ways, you just have to allow for that and go on. Now if they are slanderous or racist in their game chat, that is a different story…again…it is that whole pointless point of view for attention, and it allows for a little sweeter feeling when you kick their ass in game play.

Lastly, I would like to thank Tuia for his kindness and understanding in allowing me back on the server. My intentions for my post were not to cause divisiveness on this forum…bottom line...I made a dumb mistake that I won’t make again and I enjoy playing on this server.

Do you know what happened in June 1940? English troops were allowed to retreat from Dunkirk, France after being trapped by German troops, as a sign of good faith. And another history reminder:

I think there is a website or a person that has pretty hard influence upon Tuia's views. It's not that easy to suggest some questionable idea to technically competent people because these people usually have some kind of critical thinking but this case is beyond of any common sense.

Apparently those 270.000 people (which by itself is already a outrageous number) didnt had football tournaments and concerts in concentration camps, or were treated in most human form as you stated earlier. Damn bad luck not having enough skills to play football...

Im pretty sure it was. They had spa´s and personal service to take them breakfast in bed and clean sheets day in and day out. I heard they had credit cards with large plafonds to spend only on new clothes if needed, oh boy but life was great and they were allowed to take everything with them for those concentrations camps, so why need anything really? In American schools most are taught that pilgrims and settlers went on a massive killing spree and purposely gave infected stuff to Native Americans. That is false though. Most did indeed die due to sickness and disease, but that was because the immune systems never dealt with it. Simple things like different type of colds would kill many. Plus, years before settlers came to America, there was a big plague that killed an overwhelming majority in the south and east.

But in reality, tribal wars killed far more than anything settlers did. Especially in the east and the south. In the north east the Iroquois pushed everyone towards the midwest/great lakes area. There was a big fur trading with French, but Ojibwe wanted the most. And we decided to kick 2 different tribes' ass out of here, thanks to some French guns
