Windows XP or Windows Vista

Sorry for my noobie question. I have this old laptop with Windows XP right now because my other one (1 year old) is broken. I have tried all different graphical settings but still the computer is often laggy and it's hard to aim at times. Do you think if I upgrade to Vista this might improve the graphical performance somehow?

stay on your xp. i bought an Laptop with vista on it. Even with all tipps and tricks i found for the kompatibility between vista and Bf42 i try , i got crashes back to desktop. Somtimes it goes me very on the Nerven ^^

Intallier einfach XP, stürzt nicht ab und braucht nicht so viel Leistung wie Vista. Ein Update bringt bestimmt auch nicht viel... macht es höchstens noch schlimmer würde ich sagen.

Win vista is shit.

You better install Windows xp home editon or Windows 7 Home basic/premium,
about ur grap card, Search for driver updates.

In my opinion it doesn't make sense to install Vista, it won't be faster than XP, also BF1942 crashes very often on it.
If you're experiencing FPS drop/"heavy" mouse, set the lowest resolution possible (640x480 usually) and check if antialiasing is on in GPU settings, turn it off if so

As everyone said Vista does not make sense: It needs more perfomance of the hardware to work proberly, full of bugs and gaming is just possible with lots of configuring.

Was ich dir empfehlen kann, dass du dir den Taskmanager mal öffnest und schaust, welcher Prozess verbraucht viel Speicher oder CPU-Auslastung und dann nach dem Prozess googelst, ob du den brauchst. Das war bei meinem alten Laptop ein großes Problem, es gab einen Prozess, der 50 % des Speichers geschluckt hatte, als er abgestellt war, hat alles dann super funktioniert.

Andere Frage: CCleaner drauf? Täglich laufen lassen, Festplatte fragmentieren etc. Also die Standard-Wartungsdinger auch regelmäßig laufen lassen. Meine Empfehlung ist Windows 8 :-P Eines der lässigsten und schnellsten Betriebssysteme, die ich kenne.
