1v1 Infantry Tournament

Going to test out this new xfire tournament feature they have so I am going to host this to see how it works.

*EDIT* The players have 2 days from start of each round to schedule with their opponent through xfire or the messaging system on the site. If you can't get a time set or if 1 person requests it, I will set a time that both players have to show up to. If someone doesn't show up to the time I set they are dqed. Try to schedule with your opponent as you don't want me setting a time, who/e ends up dqed will do nothing but complain.

If you finish your matches early and the person in your bracket also finished early, then you are free to start the next round of the bracket and the same 2 day rule will apply.

1v1 pure infantry tournament for bf1942. No grenades/explosives or vehicles allowed. Here is what I am going to be going with after getting feedback on here and xfire.
If both players agree on a map then that will be the map played (stalingrad, if_berlin, dignitas, bugless mod, whatever you want), provide a screenshot of players agreeing so we don't have a dispute after.
If both players can't agree then the Default map will be if_stalingrad conquest 15 minutes 100 tickets.

Its hard to regulate bugging as a player can have old habits or accidentally do it. If a player bugs a few times then just play as is, but if you think a player is abusing it then you can request an admin/spectator to watch the game for bugging (if round has started, it will be reset when admin/spec gets in).

If both players agree on 1 server/region than that will be the official server/region, provide a screenshot of players agreeing so we don't have a dispute after.
If both players can't agree on a server/region then Default rounds - 1st round on Player A's region/server, 2nd round on Player B's region/server.
If no server available, my 1v1 servers in NYC and London will be used. BOTH SERVERS ARE PB ENABLED

If players want to play the first to 10 method, then that is allowed as long as both players agree.
Make sure to get screenshots as people are notorious for changing their mind about what they said if it doesn't start going their way.

From what I could gather reading about the xfire tournament system you don't need xfire itself but can just make an account to sign up with. I put a random time that the tournament starts, but we will start when we get the full bracket. There is no set date/time for each round unless the two players can't agree on a time and then I will come up with one.

Sign up on the xfire site if interested.

Yea single elimination only because I don't know how this tournament platform works, so once we start going through it I can start to see all the features.

Why is it stupid? I understand the tactics involved and can see where a 2v2-5v5 would be worth doing conquest and going based on tickets, but this should be more about the actual aiming and mind games of a 1v1. I am open to changing the format but just saying it is stupid is a pretty stupid way to go about it.

it's stupid because if there is no flag / ticket bleed there is no incentive to attack.. so either there will be no action at all or the more cautious player that is hiding and letting the other guy come will have an advantage in most spots.

Good point from a beautiful woman. I guess I am too used to playing with people that actually want to play the game and will attack based on that, but seeing as how it is a tournament I can see people hiding out waiting for time to end.

coL.HT, i would love to participate. butcher made an antibug mod where

1. prone is disabled so people cant bug
2. mipmap is disabled so people cant use maphack + nametag is removed from all players incase some1s using wallhack
3. both axis and allied got different custom cloths so people can see whos enemy and whos not since nametag is removed.
4.  and for the sake of some action, quake announcement are added after each kill such as (headshot, godlike, dominating etc etc)
5. taking enemies kit is disabled
6. instead of sniper+zooka+engineer medic kits like thompson and other infantry weps are added.
7. both teams have equal weapons and same weapons in options to make it fair
8. weapon sounds are changed to make it sound more comfortable and more smoother.

I'll look around at it, problem I am getting is 3-4 different ideas of how to do this. I don't know how many people have servers or access to servers that can run mods. I can put this and the infantry map pack including dignitas on my servers and make it an option for people to play though. I do like the conquest idea especially on stalingrad where you fight for mid to keep the action going. I am going to ask some more people on xfire what their thoughts are and set down a default rule for map/mod and gametype if the 2 players can't agree on one. If only we could have quake maps so hiding would be useless.

i tell you what. as for europeans u dont have to worry about a server cuz i do have access to a scandinavian server with a 60/50 mbit internet connection and it will run smooth. and yes stalingrad would be the perfect map choice as this is the main infantry map and every1 knows how to play it with tickets.. other maps like dignitas and stuff are just childish in my opinion and just not OFFICIAL bf1942 infantry map.. might as well keep this 100% bf1942 professional tourny with official bf1942 infantry map..

and ye just another thing.. i talked to few infs who participate and every1 said that they will bug the hell out of themselves for 100 dollars, will do any kind of bug to win.. so please think abouut this antibug mod because you dont wanna lose ur money to some bugger winning inf player.. make this fair as possible.. its ur money just saying smile. lets keep this tourny healthy and legit..

If butcher's mod aint an option you could always record if you see anyone using bugs. They will get kicked out of the tournament and they will not qualify for the price, simple as that. Otherwise two decent spectators on each side that wont participate in the tourn. will have a look on how fairly the game is going to be.

yeah, CQ like stalingrad would be the first option, where it's both mind and aim you play with. It would be the most legit way to go, because of an european might stand a chance to win on an american server and vice versa. The guy with the most tickets will qualify.

In my opinion this mod is useless just leave those buggers out of the tournament and if there is one, make a record about it, just like Sleven said. Besides most of the people knows who is bugging at least in Simple's hood, no idea about Americans tho.
And we need only 5 players to sign up anyways so lets start as soon as possible.
I hope this is going to work, unlike Mamba's tournaments. Means that those who sign up really have the intention to play.

for any experienced infantry out there knows that if you just press Z and prone just once, it will be buggy for the opponent to hit the target thats a fact. Nobody got time for recording and reporting players for bugging, some people dosnt even know that just 1 time prone is a bug in bf1942, it dosnt depend on how many times u spam it, prone = bug thats a fact. now if a player in 1on1 suddenly reloads and jump+prone behind a sand bag and get up and shoots you counts as a bug 100% and after that nobody got time to discuss with admins that he bugged cuz unexperienced inf player will say that 1 time prone aint a bug and it didnt count as bug.. thats the problem here.. might as well just use the mod so nobody got excuses or bugs secretly.. we got no good pc to record our 1on1 when we already got a mod that holds you back from the dirty stuff.. simple as that.

I like butchers mod and might use it in a future tournament, but I am going to avoid it as default for this current tournament.

Seriously, don't make such a big deal of it. I've played this game for a very long time with big competitions where people didn't know what a bug was and yes also infantry competition. They never had any problems with bugs, because it was not invented yet. Even though there might have been some slightly unregistration on the hits for like a half sec because a man went prone (taking cover) behind a sandbag. That's nothing you can be "aware" of and it's equal for both. Although you can always pre fire even though he went z down a sandbag because there will be a little bit delay. The hitbox will first appear when the man goes prone and you will most likely give him a straight headshot when he is defensive.That's something both team can take advantage of and where the people actually have experience of today, they should have. You rather strafe to the sides if there is any kind of cover than do an instant prone. Anyways today they're taking a big advantage of the hitbox manipulation and you can really be aware of when you see someone using bugs on purpose. And the most annoying bugs today would be; 1. diving up from a sandbag, corner or any kind of obstacle and then strafe spamming or even without strafe spamming it will give you a little bit delay, 2. spamming ctrl z behind an obstacle or 3. taking the opponents kit. That's all bugs I am aware of. 
A quick summary; there is a big significance between abuse the bugs and not abuse them.

But I am still up for the anti bug idea although it seems a little bit wierd, for example when you really have to take cover because you have to heal yourself and you're facing an open field and all you have is the sandbag underneath you. The mod wont give you a second chance for gods sake sad It's always the second chance that matters! Blabla, "when you go up it counts as a bug". One time up, no it shouldn't count as a bug imo, atleast not when it's a long sequence in between.

oh ok im glad ur still up for the antibug! dont worry about hiding you can still crouch, and there are enough boxes on middleflag area that u can crouch behind and hide as much as you want without getting buggy mate smile,  +1 to you. im glad some real infantry players are up for the antibug mods. i mean cmon lets make it exciting shudint we? wink wudint it be great if you could hit me without getting dust and shit? that will really show people how good you are.. i heard alot of players who played antibug that they had really good hits and most of the time u never know who will win the 1on1 because the hits are perfect and anybody can kill legit and be legit!

in stalingrad there are no places where you see sandbags at openfield, so you wont need to prone to stay alive all you need is crouch. from axis hq there is sandbags but CROUCH is enough to hide ur WHOLE body due to the height of the sandbags and also it will be easy for your enemy to hit u too when ur head pops up from a crouching style without getting dust, sounds nice right? other sandbags are only at middle but full of boxes where as you will only need crouch to hide your entire body so basically if im trying to take the middle flag, and i see u shooting at me from a box, i will be able to hit u if your head pops up from a crouching style because u didnt press any Z or PRONE behind the box you see what i mean here? so its actually good for both of us to play like this.. kill an enemy at every position as it shud be .. and sometimes when people are about to get the middle flag and a guy from the boxes shoots you and you shoot him but hits dosnt register, that can be the end for u in that 1on1 and u might lose.. so why not keep it easy for both of us..

basically the mod will put you in a position where u have to focus aim and tactis only, without worrieng about bugs!
