Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

I parked the T34 on the pad and tried it with one shot and the tank just burned all the time, no matter where i hit him. I think when you hit the T34 on the top it just burns for less then a second. So it is almost the same like an instant blow up.

... it probably was slightly damaged then ...  like written numerous times here, the highest damage a heavy tank can deal to another heavy tank is something that'l result in burning for six seconds before exploding

there's a slight chance more damage is possible, but i really dont think so

Sherman weak spots:

Pink surface denotes weak spots, black is strongest armor.

Rear view:

When in front of a Sherman you should try to hit its tracks. The Sherman turret has strongest armor at front and sides but has a weak spot at its rear, as you can see in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj-Jfqm-i38

If you are facing a side of a Sherman you can destroy it by hitting the engine. Look at where is Sherman's side view pink surface and watch this video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGfMtxR8U9U

When trying to hit the top of a Sherman (planes) go for the rear engine or top of turret.

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

tiger and m10 can be hit by 95 or more... with one shot...
100? no... it only happens when tiger or m10 are affected by 5% (small bump... etc) and the player hasnt noticed...
t34 can make 100 with one shot to both tanks

By the way, what's with all these percentages...88%, 91%, 12%...where in the world do you see these numbers in the game? *lmao*

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

Sorry, you are both wrong. Tiger can't be destroyed in one shot from another heavy tank. Here is why:
Tiger weakest armor material ID is 51, a T34 projectile has material ID 238. Looking at damageMod value of attacking material ID 238 against defending material ID 51 is 7. Then you multiply 7 by materialDamage value from material ID 238 which is 13. 13 x 7 = 91. Considering a perfect angle, maximum hitpoints of a T34 projectile that can be taken from a Tiger is 91 hitpoints. A Tiger has armor hitpoints 125, so 91/125= 72,8% damage or leaving 34 hitpoints or 27,2% of Tiger armor remaining. Critical damage of Tiger (burning and engine stops) is at 12 hitpoints, which is at 12/125=9,6%. So, no matter where you hit the Tiger, its weakest surface material ID is 51 and maximum damage inflicted from a T34 is 73% or 91 hitpoints.

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

The percentage engineers see is from maximum hitpoints, in Tiger's case, from 125 to critical damage hitpoints which is 12. So at 125 is 100% and at 12 is 0%. Not sure about this.

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

Read: http://bfmods.com/mdt/Tutorials/Damage% … orial.html
The damage formula is simply: Hitpoints = MaterialDamage * DamageMod * AngleFalloff * DistanceMod
AngleFalloff is 1 for perfect shot angles and DistanceMod has no effect in T34 projectile, it's always 1. Some projectiles like medic gun bullets start to decrease damage at 50 meters, and it goes to half (DistanceMod = 0,5) at above 100 meters.

125 is not 100%. A tank explodes at 117%, so 125 = 117 %. If you make a 100% shot, the tank will just burn.

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

A full health Tiger has 125 hitpoints, it shows 100% if occupied when you glance at it with engineer.
I confirmed engineer's percentage, a Tiger goes from 125 hitpoints (100%) to 12 hitpoints (0%) and at 0 hitpoints (-10%) blows up. (0-12)/(125-12) = -10%

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

the way how i took percentages, simply like that, i shoot m10 with 1 shot, it starts to burn, means that the armor bar in down left corner went from 10 bars to 0, thats what i call 100%, i never said tiger can be destroyed with 1 shot, neither i said tank will explode instantly.

Hehe, good job tuia smile
You can use game.debugDamage command with debugger to see all information on the fly:

Also there is standardMesh.drawCollisionLods command which allows you to see collision meshes (both for vehicles):

Re: BF1942 Tips & Tricks

I messed up percentages, because an engineer sees vehicles percentages where 0% is at critical damage hitpoints (usually 12 hitpoints remaining).
For the M10 example, one perfect shot from a M10 or T34 gives maximum 91 hitpoints damage, remaining 9 out of 100 hitpoints armor. So M10 health percentage after receiving that shot is: (9-12)/(100-12) = -3%. It blows up at (0-12)/(100-12) = -14%. Same goes for Sherman if you hit its tracks or side.

No idea, if they are squares/rectangles or polygon based. Searching for Battlefield 2 hitboxes or recent Battlefield series games may lead somewhere, but I could not find anything.
