One of my friends is working in Czech Republic. So he says that their language is some kind of a funny mix of Polish, Ukrainian and Russian languages.
He can't speak it but understands everything. Or about 80% as you say.

Even Western Civilization people who are native to Christianity, well they are christians obvious, so even they comment/understand the Bible in different ways. All because of that the text there is often hazy and abstract, partly because it was rewritten many times during the history.
That is why along with political and national reasons christians had argues and created many different confessions like catholic and orthodox in first place, then roman catholic, eastern cacatholic, protestants etc.
And this person, a pure western mentality/way of thinking, is trying to define the origin of Islam by reading and explaining the Coran?

Mostly from rich families? How about the crusade of poor/peasants crusade, and the children's crusade when they were led to Genoa where those children being sold into slavery.
You forget how many countries they were robbing on the way to Constantinople in the first crusade, the peasants crusade. Then Hungarians and Bulgarians even gathered a sort of a United army to fight them back. Byzantine emperor had to ferry them over Bosphorus so they will stop robbing the city.
After that they got to the other side they were slaughtered by Turks because most of them haven't hold any weapon in their hands in their life before.
And about gratefulness. Slavs fought with mongols since 1244 and suffered since then.
Muslim mongols on the East, Catholic Teutonic Order on West.
Medieval was some kind of a hobby for me in my childhood and yet I know a few in this topic. But you know nothing at all, make up everything and create your own reality.
Like you have read some fairy tales and get the imagination about medieval times from there.
Read something about how did feudal system work. You imagine it like only knights fought on the field. Every Baron led other lords, Lord's led knights and a knights "spear" contained of knights. Where every knight had their own serfs and esquires. Historians of those times did not count how many peasants fought or died in the battle but in medieval Europe army on the field usually consisted of serfs/peasants for 90%.
So keep on with those fairy tales. I'm out...
