Just why does your sentence sound like I'm guilty of something? As for in-game sounds, I changed what is available from the game settings, the rest is processed by the OS and sound card in their own way. I remember when I bought new hardware, I had a lot of problems with drivers, so maybe this is where the problem is, and of course there's nothing surprising here that new hardware + new OS may not quite work with an almost 20 year old game.

Thank you Volti for this important question smile
I could write which country exactly I live in, but I don't really want to share it publicly on the forum, the only thing I can write is that I live in Europe, but if you want to know more details then check the PM smile
The biggest problem is that I have ADSL, while probably most of this forum has fiber or other good cable connection. Of course, the ADSL I have, would probably be enough for me if I used it alone, but sharing a 20 (download) /1 (upload) mbps connection with few other people is not the best solution yikes Quite an old link, but still almost relevant. The main change is the packet loss and bigger lags.

Very similar to mine llzkk. Feels heavy but I get a lot of recoil, not sure if you get it too. So much recoil I lose control.

Basically this is what I experience...

- delayed animations
- hard to control spray and recoil
- aiming is difficult due to enemies moving alot faster
- chaos, explosions and enemies everywhere
- rubber bullets, takes alot more bullets to kill or it just doesn't register at all
- opponents hit you with critical shots every time
- every single time I get a ammo kit from an opponent it lags more and I cant shoot, only blanks. Sometimes i will throw their" nades and nothing goes out from the hands...i need to shoot again 2 or 3 times to nades be thrown...
- side hits are almost impossible
- need to reload usually more than once to actually reload.

I completely agree with you Lecter. Admittedly my recoil problem looks a bit different, but everything else is exactly the same as you have shown in the points. It's not much fun to play with such problems hmm

From my perspective your game is much more playable than mine, because in your case I don't see any major lags or breaks in the connection, while in my case this happens for almost half of the round. Anyway, I'm also recording, and I also have some clips from yesterday's game on the Berlin map, as well as two additional clips from other rounds. On the clip I wanted to show the most important problems in my game, so it's not too long.

I haven't played BF42 for a few months and I thought I would also have a problem with the aX server, but as it turns out, everything is fine. The only thing that surprised me a bit happened two days ago when I was refreshing the server list and I noticed that the aX server wasn't responding a bit longer than usual as it happens when the map changes, but luckily everything is normal now.

A bit off topic, it's very sad that one of the biggest BF42 servers that lasted for a long time (even without admins) was lost in such a short time. The owner of the server hasn't shown himself for a long time (at least publicly), but at least the server is still kept alive, especially the MasterServer.

They may be in the "My Documents" folder or just "Documents" in Windows, if I'm correct.

Sorry to hear that Zwarrior hmm I've only pointed out that messing with system files can be dangerous to user's PC, while putting modified DLLs in main game's folder can affect this game, nothing else. This is how programs (and mods) like this work.
Moving on to your problem, maybe this DLL doesn't work well with the game (in your case), so it's worth trying another one, as it was in my case, e.g. D3D8to9 didn't help me but other fix helped.
I've already discussed a similar topic here on the forum, so if you want, I can send you a link to it smile

#11 Re: Technical Help » Stuttering problem in Battlefield and Windows 10 » 2021-02-23 12:46:37

I don't think that replacing DLLs in main Windows folder is a good idea. Just don't touch anything here, because it may lead to system damage. The better solution is to put modified DLL in main Battlefield 1942 folder (where bf1942.exe is) and everything should be fine.

A .30 caliber bullet, traveling 2,800 feet per second, requires an exposure of less than 1/1,000,000 of a second. Edgerton outdid the gunslinging heroes of western movies by turning the card sideways when he shot through it. The rifling of the barrel caused the rotation of the projectile, which, in turn, carved out the S-shaped slice of card between the two halves

cool,
esp the walking and jumping animations are interesting

As for the walking animation, I think it has to be this command: [ Soldier.CameraShakeFactor <float> ] although as far as I know, it was introduced in some patch, so most likely in version 1.0 it had to be hard-coded in the game code.
As for the jump animation, it was kind of like an exploit. The right key combination allowed the player to jump longer than in the normal case, however, this was fixed in one of the patches, making it impossible to do in the latest version of the game.

From other interesting (or not tongue ) things, I noticed that:

- bots are noticeably more difficult than in the latest version of the game,

- rather for sure, it is possible to run a LAN server (at least I did), so maybe with a few tricks it would be possible to run an Internet server, e.g. for some events and create a small tournament in this version smile

- apart from the jump or walking animations, in fact most of the other animations are different, in my opinion a bit "clunky" (or sth like that) than in the latest version,

- some sounds, of course, are more "brutal" in sound (like MG42) than in the latest version of the game,

- and probably many other things that I don't remember now tongue

Yes, chat flooding is really extreme case, if you write fast literally in blink of eye, you will get nice yellow message in BF42, saying that you're sending messages too fast. That means for player who is flooding the chat, his text will be not sent to the server, and only the player who write them, will be able to see them. The similar thing is when you spam radio commands, although, you will not get this message, but using radio commands will have no effect.

I guess there must have been some misunderstanding of what I wanted to say, though perhaps I wasn't quite clear.

It's not like I don't think this patch is a problem as I haven't had problems because of it, at least as often as others. If I remember correctly, about 2 years ago I had a problem with the aim on the SiMPLE server, which just got a bit worse in a few days. At first I didn't know what the fault was, but I accidentally found a forum post about a server patch made by russ that was just introducing changes to aiming, fixing exploits and other things. So I figured my aim might have gotten worse because of this. Although I forgot about that aim patch completely anyway, because I hadn't played BF42 for almost a year.

The only thing I could go wrong with what I wrote is that if some people have regs problems on aX and SiMPLE, I don't think removing that patch will magically fix their problems, but that applies to these people, and not everyone I could have written before. Even in this thread there are people who have this problem on both servers, but it is not my goal to point out who it is.

By the way, regarding the problems from 2 years ago that you mentioned, the server ran on an Intel Atom processor, which often caused server-side lag on the maps, especially those with a lot of objects. So by combining it with the aim patch, you can easily see what this led to.

I'm not sure how exactly it looks in your laptop with nvidia gpu, but you should also try set proper gpu in windows 10 settings,
windows
and what is more, in nvidia control panel, there also should be an option to set dgpu instead of igpu.
nvidia

I think the problem here is that the computer feels there is no need to use maximum performance in games using the DX8 API, even if you really would. The solution here (I think) is to trick the computer into thinking that it is dealing with a newer game, I think minimum DX9, so then it will be possible to unlock additional performance.

I'm using dgvoodoo, because other tricks failed to work properly with my radeon, some of them really helped me to get better performance, but I've got some graphics artifacts. Instead of dgvoodoo you can try something like D3D8to9.

I agree with that, and I have a similar opinion on this.
Again on the other hand there are also people complaining about regs on both aX and SiMPLE so I don't think removing this *patch* would change anything much wink

I know some people felt the need to adjust renderer.fieldOfView in their videodefault.con once they went wide-screen, but I don't believe this really involves or resolves any "sqishing" or stretching.  Just "how far back is the camera placed", so to speak.

I might also add that changing FOV can even lead to graphics bugs, so it would be better to leave the original value. The widescreen version has a built-in anti-stretch fix anyway, so I guess modifying FOV isn't necessary smile

Same resolutions (FHD without and with widescreen fix):

But anyway, I can agree that some rare problems may require unusual solutions smile
