I was always wondering about few players tbh. tongue Because the "time to kill" can be very weird. Unless more players shooting at me, i just don't notice it. But again, it would happen in every scenario not just with few players.
In many games, higher FPS can break things. Like even causing higher fire rate. So if you have 1000+ FPS, maybe you have an advantage in this game. I know that 000 went for very high FPS and he killed very fast. But i never tested it, i play with graphics mod and i have low FPS (50-120). lol

I was thinking about it and it was always requested by some people. But if you add new details to a model, it needs new textures, lightmap and maybe even collision model. Too much work for me, right now. Also other things can be updated too, more particle effects, better animated vegetation and many minor things.

I was always thinking about making this bigger. Like making an own site for the mod, hype shit up and maybe there would be supporters to work on this full time (probably no chance). But not sure if people would care enough... maybe i'm not even skilled enough to work on this.

So for now, it's mostly a texture mod. Maybe AI upscalers will soon replace me anyway... and things like RTX Remix. For now, i can work on it and if things don't change, it will take me years to update everything i wanted.

I actually tested things on Simple, to see if my mod is working properly or not... then i found out, they turned off Content check. I actually want to make my mod work on servers with Content check enabled (with a slight texture tweak, it's possible).

Or maybe i could make a different version for servers like Simple with a bit more tweaks. For example i didn't find a way to make the new sky textures work on servers with content check.

Anyway, RTR and Secret Weapons is fixed now, so even with Content check, the next version should work. If they disable it, i can add sky textures to the expansion packs too. But, i like Content check, it's a layer of anti-cheat. Better than nothing.

I made the mod and only recently found out that it doesn't work on RTR servers.
I fixed it, i just need to release a new version. Soon, i will do it, I'm just doing other things too. There will be few new textures for RTR too.

Oh right, to me it crashes after a second map load. So i need to reopen the game after one play, but at least it works. If it doesn't work for you at all, just delete d3d8.dll.

There are other directx8 wrappers that might work, but i don't have experience with them. Like this

If you force MSAA with it, you will even have better sampled dynamic shadows on terrain (like from players and vehicles). And the battleship lightmaps seems to work with it too.

Some of us are fighting to have more players on this game/server, meanwhile some admins are so easily banning players. At this point we have so low player numbers, we can truly feel the missing players.

Pixel shooting. If i play and i notice an artillery shooting at us from a distance, i search and destroy it.
Too many TK. Shit happenz sometimes and if he is trolling, he had a shit day maybe.
Camping. Seriously, these maps can be so over-restricted. You need to let a plane to take off fully and fly for extra 30 seconds or pilots cry about "campers".

Stop being a pussy. This game is about WW2 after all. Just because you don't ban so harshly, this server won't turn into a chaotic mess. We had servers with 128 players and/or camping allowed before and guess what, players enjoyed it.

Anti-camp is not a rule just a suggestion, just go and carpet bomb the main enemy base with a B17. The server will love you for it!

Don't worry, the fog tweak doesn't work on multiplayer. (Along with many other tweaks.) So no advantages there. The screenshots are from "Custom game" mode, which has more stuff in it.

I felt like sharing this mod here. It's a trend to play on low graphics for visibility and high FPS. But maybe some of you want to play with better graphics. Obviously at it's core this game will keep looking potato, but you know... better than nothing.

If you play on simple servers, you will notice updated textures and some other minor changes with this mod. Reshade also changes the overall look of the game (which is included).

The system requirements are quite high. Don't download the mod if you are using Phenom II/Quad series CPU and HD7770/GTX650Ti or lower level GPU. Sadly the game engine just wasn't optimized for this amount of high res textures.
Please share your performance results if you downloaded it though.

The screenshots are from custom mod version at 4k, tons of AA, 16x AF and forced AO. So don't be disappointed if it doesn't look that much better for you while playing on multiplayer. :P
BTW you can force Ambient Occlusion through nvidia inspector and Nvidia Freestyle effects might work too, but i didn't test them yet.

There was a time when i brought the carrier to the island from the start. It has lots of pros as it's easy to protect it with defgun and flaks. And people use boats to invade the island... the team is more centered around the island which is more important. And even the enemy isn't expecting you there. I controlled that axis carrier and i think i was kicked for it. tongue Axis thought that spawning in corner of the map will save them. But you know how it works, everyone will wait for 2 plane and no one will use the small ships to attack the island.

So i went mad, grabbed the carrier and "attacked" the island. Tbh still better tactic than sitting in the corner. tongue

It's more like a "fun map" nowadays along with El Alamein. I like realism more too. Players are sadly bored of El Alamein after years (i can see why). But Britain is a great map even with default settings, idk why is it changed.

Ok, no big drama or anything. I'm only uploading this because Merlin was so sure that he seen it well and i said i will show proof.

Hans Gruber (the only green player visible for me) went on foot for a plane (you can see in the minimap). Merlin said that Hans used taxi. At the end Hans damaged him because of this and he was banned for whatever amount of time (not much).

Thanks to a tip by ziba128, i can make it work on multiplayer servers. There are about 150 new textures at the moment. I will make a moddb profile for more infomation. Release verySoonTM. (At least for HD texture pack, still has some problems with the shaders)

Nope. This client has modified helmet and flag textures inside texture.rfa as i can see. (Look more realistic).

But the file size is almost the same, so maybe this is the trick to do it. I can't make a compatible HD pack then, because the textures i'm using is like 2048x2048 or even 4096x4096. So yeah, it's a totally different file size.

Guys, is there a way to change at least some textures for online servers? Tuia changed some, like helmets, flags, HUD... I started to make a high resolution texture pack, but i can't use any of them (checked most). I have to test every texture one by one? Or i should just give up?

Not sure if it's windows related or not... I reinstalled W10 with the newest "Creators update" and the game isn't even starting... There is a black screen for 3-4 seconds and then it's closing without any messages. The only other thing changed is my video card, but i don't really have problems with other old games. Drivers are updated, i tried compatibility modes and other clients... Nothing works, any ideas?

Is there anyone using the newest Win10 version or Geforce 1000 series card? Is it working for you? Thanks for answers.

Worst map is Guadalcanal with ships near enemy base. You need to wait for planes to shoot at you first or you will get banned, kicked because of plane camping. Battleaxe is the second worst, you can't kill anyone near the enemy base (mostly admins) or they warn you. Now i'm kicked because i'm swimming as Axis in Omaha Beach and we lost... HURDUR how disruptive gameplay!
Instead of these they should check sometimes the best players, because many times they aren't even banning the cheaters.

The darkening will be possible with ReShade, because it has a shader exactly for that (vignette). But at the moment the game is unstable with ReShade...

I would like to know more about texture modding too, because i started to add high resolution textures to the game, but i can't change anything without getting the data differ error. Seriously, others even changed the ground textures (Combat in Flames mod), but i can't.

Try to update your network driver. Download adwcleaner, you can reset winsock, tcp/ip settings with it and it cleans your PC too.

Yes i tried it a while ago, even made a video about it... the reflection is really nice, too bad it's not static and reflects the HUD too... the bloom isn't that good quality so it makes the screen a bit blurry, but better than nothing.
Anyway, i found out why is the game crashing with the directx wrapper and reported it to the author. Hope he can fix it.

I just tried Combat in Flames mod and it has compatiblity for original servers too... I didn't know that we can play on servers with modified ground textures, particle effects and sound effects. So "we" could make a mod for original servers and a more heavy version with modified maps and more tweaks. Who knows, maybe more player will join if the game looks much better. Idk, i don't want to split the community though.

Anyone tried the CiF mod? It's not compatible with the new exe? Some particle effects and water isn't loading for me no matter what i try.
I tried a map with clouds on tuia's client too. The transparent clouds are moving nicely. I made a screenshot about moving clouds, "GENIUS".

Thanks tuia. Tbh, i didn't notice much difference (i only tested 2 maps), but the HUD is much clearer. I wouldn't even go for approved content-check. I'm sure you don't want to split the community, but i would like to see a mod for it. Did you guys hear about Combat in Flames mod? It has horrible new textures, but the particle effects are so much better.

Sadly, i don't have any modding experience, i only made custom maps, but Battlecraft isn't working well for me in W10. I wanted to make models too, but it's so hard with zero experience... sad
It would be nice to add more buildings, vegetation without touching the original gameplay much. Someone could make more detailed vegetation, vehicle models, better textures too. That's why i said, i'm surprised there are no graphic mods for this game...
List we can do:
- Better view/rendering distance
- More detailed models, more vegetation and other models on maps
- Better skybox/clouds
- Better particle effects
- Better animations
- Higher resolution HUD
- Shaders, bloom effect, tonemapping, sunrays, etc (Currently not stable, but one day...)

Yes, i agree... though, we have a lot of tools to make the game better, i'm surprised no one made a little remaster yet. I will make a new topic, maybe someone will make a team for it.

Sorry for still not releasing the "mod" yet. But i'm still waiting for new version of DX wrapper and ReShade. The rendering at far distance is still weird and the game is crashing hard. At least i made a new preset...
