all you people's lag has nothing to do with the server ... its either your pc or net connection

get a modern cpu, gpu, a proper internet connection, a proper win install and your lag will disappear

i have a new intel quadcore + a geforce 560 gtx + a fiber-connection .... and i NEVER have ANY lag at simple, even with 90+ players on

i can run loads of apps; xfire, mediaplayers, browsers, etc. etc while playing 1942 without any lag

just spend 800 euros and buy a new pc .....

its 2012, and im surprised that hardcore gamers still use weak outdated pc hardware, and then wonder why they get lag

X this game is from 2002, its hardly hardcore and my cpu is good, net connection is very fast, windows has been reinstalled 1 month ago, i do weekly cleanups and the lag is there, crazy, freezes sometimes for 2 secs

Re: How to improve gameplay

the fact that i never have lag at SiMPLE even with 90+ players on, proves that any lag you people have must come from either your pc, or connection...

Lecter ... you can't know for sure if your connection is the one lagging .... even though it may be fast, it may still lag ...

it may also be :

a driver problem
faulty windows install / setup / tweak
background services / apps
defective hardware
electricity fluctuations

and many other things

Re: How to improve gameplay

X=X=X=X=X=X=X=X, is right. The server handles fine 90 players, the lag you get is on your side. I experienced too in Aberdeen, but I've disabled in-game sounds in the Options menu and the fps rate is much better now. Of course, disabling sound is a drastic measure. You could try lowering the sound quality or trying to enable hardware acceleration or even reducing the number of channels, to see if it helps. Also try to reduce the screen resolution or lowering video quality. Anyway, you should use a program like Bandicam or Fraps to always check your fps in-game. Fraps has a nice feature that lets you benchmark your fps, saving all values to a .csv file.

Re: How to improve gameplay

if you have a fast cpu but slow gpu try this line in VideoDefault.con " renderer.forceSwSkinning 1 " it uses software (cpu) instead of hardware (gpu) to write some of the details on screen.

another thing you can try is " renderer.extrapolateFrame 0 "    http://forums.powervs.com/showthread.php?t=5558
(This command limits the framerate to 30fps but it eliminated stutter and makes Bf1942 much more playable.)

Re: How to improve gameplay

Thanks, I didn't know those commands. There are other commands you can also try taken from this page: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/420/ba … ndex6.html. For example, place renderer.useTrilinearFiltering 0 in your VideoDefault.con file for a possible extra performance.

Re: How to improve gameplay

If you have 2 or more gigs or ram with windows xp go to control panel/ system/advanced/settings/visual effects and check box for adjust for best performance/in the same box click on advance and turn off page file.
Then go to control panel/administrative tools / services  then disable unnecessary running programs. This link will guide you as to which ones you need running. I have only 18 running and 2 are PunkBuster.
The list is too long for me to list here so go bare bones as described in the black viper link.
If you play with me you will always see me player 0. That’s because my computer is running with minimal recourses. I’m always first in the game.. I don’t use any game tweak software because it just puts on more running programs and it does things you can do manually without it. You should be able to read all running programs in task manager without have to scroll down the page.
also try and to use wireless go hardwire.. wired internet connection is always always better..

Is this because win7 version? my brother has stronger version (win7 pro or something) and he doesnt get that much crashes.

Make sure your internet connection isn't being shared. If you have a router, password protect it so your neighbors can't leech off your connection.Sounds like BF 1942 is all you have running, but do task manager and see you PC activity.Do you have your PC set to defrag once a week? There is also a sweet program that cleans up your PC and I guarantee it is virus/spyware free 100%. I have used it for years. If you want I can link you to that free download? Making sure your PC is optimized for maximum performance means alot. Do a defrag and run Cleanup....you will be amazed. You can thank me later HAHA.Good luck bro!

Red,

Can you pls send link for that defrag prog? will it work for win7?

many thanks

Re: How to improve gameplay

I understand that my ping would be higher in the France server since I'm in the USA, but is there anyway to reduce lag when there are many people on? It seems I lag more when more people are on.

Re: How to improve gameplay

You can always see if your perceived lag is due to low frame rate with a program like Bandicam or Fraps. If you lag when you get to see more objects (players, vehicles, etc.), you should firstly lower in-game resolution and remove some graphic details. Reread this topic, it has some information about it and a few other tips.

Useless software to "optimize" Windows registry, it won't improve your computer performance.
