Most people like a mod that packs a lot of content, but doesn't take too much disk space.
Something around 200 MB to 500 MB would do the trick (i.e., Desert Combat).

The problem is not the size of a mod, the problem is the laziness of players.

There are not so many mods with this size.

300 mb is not enough to a mod, only for mods that doesn't have too much new objects. Pirates doesn't have a lot.

If they can download 12 gb games or 4 gb films, they have opportunity to download the mods.

For example there are good mods like: BF1918, Eve of Destruction, BG42 but huge ... so these can't be for an event i know.

DC+DCf are also big together and DCF has new things, sounds, skins.

It's not just downloading the mod, it's also about getting used to it. Most people haven't played these mods before so maybe they don't wanna spend time finding out about the new maps, weapons, etc.

I think most of peoples are just not interested on these mods. Even the original game lacks of players nowadays.
The Desert Combat mod was really popular back then, but now we have a lot of modern war game. I dont think it will be much better than these mods.

Battlegroup42, Eve Of Destruction, BF1918 and most of the big mods you named are all dead by now Millerke. And they're all big mods, EoD probably being the biggest in terms of disk space.

FH and Desert Combat still have a small player base though.

I know Obs. I took part in all of these mods about making the mod for a small time.
But it is hard to find a mod like small and popular. Like Shing said, the most of the players stay with classic bf1942.

FH is also big, maybe DC is not. But other options? Sadly no...

You could attract new players from BF1942 Origin to download the mods, but you will need to change server version to 1.612 and disable PunkBuster.

I was thinking I'd do a small infantry conversion mod with a few maps and new game modes when I get the time. I'll keep people posted about that.

It's easy to do server-side modifications to make maps infantry based, remove tanks/planes and disable grenades and expacks, so there is no need to download a client mod, such as Infantry mod.

Server side mods are also pretty limited. I plan on doing more than disabling grenades and expacks here and there.

Thx for the suggestion tuia, but i don't have good impression about origin players so still 1.61, no cd-key checking (so the game is downloadable) and PB will on.

Nope, i will let it on.
Not a big thing to download pb.zip from the 2 sites i linked. What is the problem with it?
