New corona test should give 30 minutes response

Researchers at the Karolinska Institute have together with researchers in China developed a covid-19 test that shows in just half an hour whether you have an active covid-19 infection - by showing yellow or pink.

Today's tests to see who is infected are looking for the virus's genetic mass. It requires advanced equipment, including a so-called gene copier, or PCR machine.

The new test does not require any complicated devices. A few test tubes, reagents and a tub of hot water are enough. In the test tubes, a reaction starts which mass-copies parts of the virus's genetic mass. After half an hour, the answer comes.

- Because it is so simple, the test can be done at home, which is much cheaper. Our calculations show that it will cost 1-2 euros per test, so it will be something that many want to have access to, ”says Rebecca Howard, biochemist at Stockholm University who is currently working on producing the protein needed for the new rapid test.

In France the have good results with the medicament "Tocilizumab" which is primary against Rheumatoid Arthritis.

With this medicament they can contain an overreaction of the own Immunsystem, which is in many cases at the end responsible that people die.

Welp, I took a coronavirus test today.

I started to feel "off" Friday evening and during the weekend. I think that's when my fever started because it would explain the chills I randomly had. I woke up with a coughing fit early Monday. I thought maybe it was bronchitis because I get it every now and then (lame preemie lungs)  Yesterday it just got worse and I knew it wasn't bronchitis... I wasn't coughing up shit and it was just a dry cough. I felt shitty. I took my temperature and sure enough.. 101.2F.

Did a short telehealth appointment yesterday evening and she told me to go to a drive-through testing site that is downtown this morning. They swabbed my cheeks and then took the long nasopharyngeal swab and jammed that fucker all the way up my nose. They put the samples in a container and said I'll have my results tomorrow. It's lame because the person who did my test says it only takes 20mins to test the sample. They take the samples they have to the lab twice a day, which is barely 2 blocks away -.-

My doc's PA called and said I tested positive. Gave me various info and now a person from the county's health department will call me sometime this evening to notify me that I'm officially under isolation orders and will start the contact tracing process. My doc sent in a prescription yesterday for cough syrup and tessalon perles. Taking acetaminophen too.

No idea who I got it from/where I got it. This shit hit fast out of nowhere. It's funny because I was actually going to post the other day about how I'm surprised by the #'s here because I expected them to be a bit higher. Well, shit.

Maybe some groceries u bought had it on them.. u can get it from paper, nylon, plastic.. anything.
