This is an Axis Kübelwagen Typ 82,  Dude.

In WW2 there was no Mouse, just Keyboard. You can see them there, ... those two white Buttons, left and right? big_smile

Hey ICQ.

You are using the same camera phone I have but my photos don't come out as good as that.
Are you using a different camera app or is that the standard Xiaomi app?
You have some good 'bokeh' going on in a couple of photos.

Meh! Good question! Are you sure you have the same phone? I have the GLOBAL Xiaomi Remdi Note 5 (2018 version) with dual camera lens especially for this effect. Do you have also dual camera in your device?

About the app i use. Good question... well... uuh...

My best APP for get control over your photo sensor is:

https://opencamera.sourceforge.io/

But u maybe want to get from APP STORE:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta … opencamera

BUT WAIT

There is an older brother (more expensive) for this Remdi Note 5 (2018 version).. which is only sold in India. It is the Indian 2018 Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 PRO version. It has the same hardware for photochip and lenses. BUT the xiaomi stock app allows more "rendering" of the data that is collected with BOTH sensors.

This is a bit complicated story but in essence is that the NON PRO versions can make these photos, but we not have so many tweaks and adjustments. For example in the PRO version you can sharpen AFTERWARDS also. We cannot do this (and few of those little things).

Now if you are handy you can do anything and use the black/white sensor in gimp or photoshop to do your photo magic.

For you, if you have the same device, use MI stock camera APP. Beware in default settings it is NOT that high quality (and also not big files, more suitable for social media).

So go into stock photo app... see all the settings and turn it up. Then use only backside (dual) camera and switch the the PORTRAIT mode:

screenshot_2019-09-19-15-02-32-197_com5337470787612213968.png

There you get the fancy Bokeh effect. Note you can adjust a bit also when u click and swipe in the "view finder". But no after adjustments possible.. (who cares, im good with gimp, photoshop and such im fine).

I am very very happy with this phone, great battery life, solid GUI (MIUI 10,3 on android 9, i love it). Also the photos are super crisp (if u know what you do, the more light the better). Sometimes it is a bit off... but depends on the object, if it is moving... this and that.. u know!

Up front, the Chinese Redmi Note 5 comes with a 13MP setup instead of a 20MP setup as found on the Pro variant in India. Lower resolution doesn’t necessary mean lower performance, and the front camera on the Redmi Note 5 does pretty well, especially if are fond of background blur. Note that there is just a single camera up front with LED flash and Xiaomi uses software to get the depth information for bokeh photos. To be honest, the software does pretty well to detect your face and blur out the background effectively. So, if you are into this kind of selfies, you won’t be disappointed. Overall, the quality of the front camera is pretty good in the budget segment.

please be aware i cheat a lot... if u see my photos... im a tricky guy.... i used to have my own DOKA (dark room) and used to develop and such... i know how to make something pop smile i since ur an elder English man i think you might also know a lot about the art of photographing.

Anyway i hope this info helped. Open camera is amazing u can do every little setting u ever wish for. It is complex... but u can grab the best photos and video's on any android with this app. No kiddy effects, just raw plain grab and take shots. If u want kids filters go play in lightroom or something. wink

This is what you have:
Redmi-Note-5-Pro_3-e1518591339423.jpg

Right?

Because u absolutely need the data from both such sensors to be able to make this realistic yet "synthetic" Bokeh effect. The software needs data from both lenses!!!

One lens/sensor is black and white and a bit low-res to measure depth of objects in your scene, so it is a semi-real effect that u get, PORTRAIT MODE ONLY!!! REMEMBER THAT!

I did try and hacked the PRO note 5 camera software to see if i could cheat the software to that more expensive phone. I unpacked the APK (was not easy to get it, some indian guy shared his from his original phone) and took me a while to patch it without complain about my phone model. But i got it to run and snap photos fully featured. I could not adjust BOKEH afterwards. Adjust amount of the blur and vocal point, as one can do in the pro version. Too bad.. maybe one day i can make it to work but honestly i dont care the camera is AWESOME as it is.

See link to original photo (and original resolution):
https://www.spcl.tk/wp-content/uploads/ … 843870.jpg

Sorry, i did not take this photo in raw format and my wordpress app is set to shrink above photo with 80% jpeg compression (saves me TONS of megabytes!!!

There is even more detail, but my wordpress server is set to crunch the photo a bit. Also this forum is scale photos down, so need to follow link to see the full 4000x3000 pixels.

Note the sunglasses (shiny object)  i wear on my hair AND the windscreen of the jeep (part transparent) is totally confuse the software, hence the errors on the edge

Note the second sensor is also used in low-light photos... play with it to find out how u can use it to make your art piece.

Re: BF1942 jeep in real life

Ok ICQ, thanks for the comprehensive info.
I have the same phone as you, the global version with dual lens and the improved aperture size.
Guess I need to tinker with the settings using opencamera.
