Medieval History Thread

In this thread you can discuss the medieval history of Europe and other continents, from 476 to the fall of Constantinople in 1453.

The thread will focus on medieval architecture (i.e., Roman and Gothic) but the topics of arts, science, litterature, famous battles, life in the Middle Ages in general and the place and importance of religion will also be discussed.

I will try to add some pictures soon.

Everything really, there is no bad or wrong topic, as long as it concerns the Middle Ages and happened in that period.

What is wrong with the 1453 date I provided? Of course it is not exact, historians will have different dates representing the end of the Middle Ages; some day it ended in 1492 with the discovery of America by Columbus.

Other historians downplay the significance of the battle, mentioning the Muslim forces did not have the intent to destroy Christianity so to speak but simply to pillage the villages of southern France.

Fun fact: Charles Martel, the French king, was called “The Hammer of God”. If anybody is looking for a cool nickname to use in BF, that would be it.

1453:
Constantine XI Dragases Palaiologos was the last emperor of Byzantine empire.
He was partly of Serbian descent, his mother was Serbian princess.
Constantine lead defense of the Constantinople and when Ottomans entered city, confusion hit defending force, Genoese and Venetian allies started retreating toward their ships, when Constantine saw that and that enemies cant be held he removed all of his royal insignias, gathered his loyal guard and charged toward incoming enemies.
His body was never found, Ottomans could not identify him.
Because of his bravery and fact that his body was never found he is also known as ''The immortal Emperor''.

This is a scene painted by Jan Steen (dutch) during the golden ages (1663-1665 a.d. maybe a bit too late for your topic?).

In this painting you can see how the illuminati are already busy stealing money from young children. Jan Steen wanted to point out with this painting how much we have to be careful of the ruling elite class. Also he points out that gay people and lesbians are really bad and evil (see the strange look on the face of the white gay man on the left in the chair).

Most important you see on the left side of the painting how they took away a black man. He was in the painting but after some protests Jan Steen had to take him out because he stank so much it ruin the painting. Back then black people were allowed in town because their bad genes enabled them to work so hard. The chocolate-capitalists really did their bad things back then in the Netherlands. That is why today we are such a fvcked up country and most Dutch people are completely insane. If u ask me it is still in the water!

Here is another famous battle that happened in 1444, and arabs were UTTERLY defeated by Albanians. Accordingly, there were 100 thousands arabic troops, and less than 5 thousands of Albanians. I found a video on yt regarding this, it's very accurate tho.
