Hi all!
Today, I'd like to start a thread with a SiMPLE question..
Do you have the feeling that your hardware nowadays keeps degenerating faster than years before?
You may ask yourself:"Why is he asking that?" Well, the reason is pretty easy. I'm not convinced that companies nowadays are concerned about the hardware you buy anymore. Companys want you to buy more and more in an always shorter period of time, -my guess- to create a better profit. What's your oppinion 'bout this?
Or to say it in Duke'ish:"Hm, don't have a good feelin' 'bout this!"

Depends on hardware: enterprise, small business, home or personal. Depends on what you want from this hardware.
Its all hype. If you have hardware that still does what you require of it then there is no real reason to replace or upgrade it. The marketing of all new hardware products is now so heavily hyped by the marketing departments and they play on peoples vanity. Phrases like "you simply must have the new 1080GTX in your machine" and people rush out to buy it without ever asking why. I now only ever upgrade when I need to due to requirements or faults that force me to.
Intel somehow screwed it up in recent years, AMD is doing same now , each year they introduced 1 genereration of processors with around only 10% improvment in overall performance , result was clients feeling " old " with what they had , i remember the times 1 good pc was easily at topnotch for around 4 or 5 years

Computer-wise, I can't say I've ever witnessed what I would call "degeneration." Sure, if I buy that sub-US$300 laptop instead of something better, the case is flimsy and it won't stand up to abuse. But the actual "hardware" to me seems the same as everything else: Will last forever, except for those 1 in 1000 that fail immediately, and those 1 in 100 that fail after long life.
It actually surprises me how high the "learn from our past mistakes" or overall manufacturing quality has been maintained as everyone clamors toward a lower and lower price point. Even rotational hard drives seem to have retained their reliability to me; which is something I was suspicious of as the demand for them started to drop, while at the same time demand for higher capacities increased in those rotational drives that we do still purchase.
So what is it that is "degenerating" on you, if not the false infection of Apple slowing down iOS on your old device, or shitty Windows software practices that would reset/resolve if you performed a clean installation again?

I hope I can run win 7 on this machine !! LMAO !!!
What is it a 486?..
*Hahaha* Made my day!
As for me, this is all because now people need business, it is clear that it is profitable for companies to do so that a person changes his phone every year, this is logical. And there is nothing we can do about it. The only way out is to become financially independent and create your own business.
Its all about marketing, much of the hardware that are made nowadays have planned obsolescence, now it is very important to save the tickets of the things you buy.
