KI Gaming Mouse

Hm, found a few days ago in a cardbox besides the road. The poor mouse just layed there, waiting for her end. Redeemed her... big_smile

Now she is mine and we're happy ..
Why do some people just throw such things away when still working nice? Don't get it...

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

*hahaha* Well I guess there's no Devil in it... big_smile

But it's true. Here, people often throw things away, for which others pay a lot of money ... Somewhat sad, but truth every day...

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

Another example? Some weeks ago I found a music-rack. Made of glas & metal, stood ready for the local waste company. I thought it was not worth the waste, so it still have a place in my kitchen now, waiting for action. Although I have to admit that it needed some intense cleaning first though, cause the prepossessor seemed to like pommes frites or something like that and was somehow kinda full of fat flecks... now it stands there... Don't really need it but I thought it's too hard to just throw it to the junk...

But don't get me wrong, I'm not a junk-collector. But sometimes, when you're walking around the streets, you wonder what other ppl like to throw away... and what gems you can find, with eyes a little bit more open. smile

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

Yes it is very sad that we live in such a throw away world, a few years ago we would have had stuff repaired but now its chuck it and buy a new one.

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

I saw some vid once where there was some chip in a printer that counted amount of pages, when it reached a certain point the printer stopped working. The owner first tried to have it fixed, but everyone told him to just buy a new one, so he decided to do some researce and found out about the chip, and then managed to reset the chip by himself. most people would propably just but a new one.

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

Well, guess that's not only an experience by you bud. That's how the society/finance world works today. Imagine when you first bought your computer, your headphones, your hair dryer, your washing mashine... maybe even your dish washer or your refridgerator... And what happens with all this products in the end? Yeah, we throw it away 'cause of malfunction that easily could've been solved... Sad, but true.

Here in germany there's an opposing force, working against such waste...

And no, plz don't call me an Öko, but I really sometimes think that the financial point took place above the economic one... don't caring about ressources or generations that'll live after ours. I see that every day around... sad

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

I usually try and fix my stuff when it goes kaputt, but sometimes it goddamn near impossible. Like a mouse for instance, if the left button gets worn out you can use a solder iron to switch the right/left microswitches as the right one usually is not nearly used anyway, but nowadays it doesnt help so im guessing there might be something like a "counting chip" in there too somewhere.

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

I will always look to repairing anything as long as that repair is cost effective and that's the problem!  Recently had a tumble dryer problem a Bosch to be exact and to repair the unit was going to cost more than it was to buy a new one, how the hell does that work?  I work as a field service engineer many years ago and in those days you could build a new dryer or washer by ordering spare parts and making it for about 50% the cost of new so what changed?

Re: KI Gaming Mouse

Building new stuff in China 1 dollar/hour, repairman in west 50? dollar/hour (just guessing on the numbers)

edit: also warehouse costs for reserve parts (in west) and warehouse workers wages etc, i guess it all adds up. hmm
