Old ping was 86, Paris ping is 96+ but stable in game. Just anoying, it would be great if I could fix it.

I called my Provider last week. They will change the routing for Simple over Geneva directly to Paris, instead Basel, Amsterdam, Paris.

I hope it will be soon.

Re: Moving to Paris

SNAG_0000.png

recent three years' monthly averages for simple fra, according to the perhaps slightly imprecise gametracker

tomorrow the old ip redirection will be turned off, and the first ip switch for simple fra in 6+ years will be complete

latest rumour has is that 20 % still are using the old ip

there will be a player loss, both in the short and long run and maybe even permanently

i hope simple fra will recover as well as possible

just for fun, here's my predition of the monthly averages for the future :

( 80 % of 34 is around 27, so first month should roughly be at that, but i somehow think it will be much lower )

after one month :             20

after four months :          23

after a year :                     26

Players will seek it out...word of mouth and also will come here.  Numbers ebb and flow all the time... I doubt the IP change will affect Simple in the long run...ie whatever happens will happen regardless.  Build it and they will come.

Re: Moving to Paris

I wonder how I can be on the southwest coast USA and the server in Paris and I'm getting under 20 ms pings?  I'd expect more like 145 ms or something.  I figured with such low pings the server  was located in Phoenix , Arizona or something.

Re: Moving to Paris

The connection quality to the server became much worse today. I had a lot of stuff like twitches, freezes, poor hit registration, the weapon switches on its own, the view is not changing properly. I don't know if you are experiencing the same, here is a video.

I had massive lags in the last days. Didn't play much since weeks, but when, it's not the same, as on the old server.

Before 2 days 85 ping or so and yesterday packetloss between 2% and 40% on the last hub and the server itself.

Hitregs isn't everything.. It is obviously a problem. But don't forget all the other key variables, like mouse sens, mouse pad size, quality never equals max. performance, luck, desire to play the game well and the list goes on from the material of your chair to the volume of ingame sounds

Re: Moving to Paris

I made an example how you can have better hits with 170 ping than with something like 60 ping. It happens to everyone, even those that have less than 10 ping, and on any server. During the game the hit quality will change, sometimes more, sometimes less. Sometimes you join a server and feel like a hyperman because you have really nice regs, sometimes you feel like nothing works at all and you can't make kills.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3hcTOTuWDg

Obviously the lower the ping, the less problems. But it's not carved in stone.

Re: Moving to Paris

lower ping actually helps very great ,it helps on your reaction time ,and detects who can shoot first ,in any part of game it can help you ,game shows the ping ,but not what happens to you packets how they get modulate and gets  sent to server and other some other technical stuff , high ping at routes or hops can happen because of at least 2 important things (if you are not far from server) ,first the main bone hop server has busy CPU and Hardware or the main hop or route server has busy traffic , each of them can affect in a different way

i have changed my ISP and my ping is now around 100 ,its slightly better but still i have same score on public and same struggles at aiming just like when i had 200 ping ,especially on tanks and plane no difference for 100 lower ping at all

my ping to BmC server is 105 but there is a hop when i trace to server  with IP:5.56.18.59 my ping is 400-500 there which means my actuall ping in that server is not 109

hitreg varies from time to time ,but the frequency that it changes from good to bad and how long it last is important surely such a thing is very rare in  first world and European countries

( considering a perfect aiming and movment) But this only 60% of regs , the rest depends on your router , network adaptor and windows settings

you can always hit a enemy who stands even with 800 pings , good hitregs shows it self when you can hit moving and jumping opponent and the guy that shoots you back
usually those who jump and and move at your 90 degree angle ,are the hardest one to hit ,sometime i see players that can kill a highspeed diving BF109 with MG they surely have decent hitregs but dont know how to use it

Re: Moving to Paris

The point behind my posts like this is that everyone has pretty much equal opportunities in this game, regardless of one's ping, location or god knows what. Americans, Europeans, Hindus, you and all sorts of oompa loompas have exactly the same problems in BF42 multiplayer.

Re: Moving to Paris

I remember a dogfight where i had like 300+ ping, i had to lead so far ahead my opponents plane that he was more or less out of screen if i wanted to get the bullets to hit. Kinda took the fun out of the game to play like that.

Here are the longer 170 ping videos, uncut. Not as easy as it seems on video, once you go try. But everything works in my favor and only I can hit with high ping..

I call bullshit. You can't tell me that someone that has downstream bandwidth speeds of more than 250 mbps has the same chances in a 1v1 vs someone that only has a tenth of of that speed.

Yet this and your geographical location relative to that of the server are the two main factors that determine hitregs in this game.

There is no such thing as equal opportunities in a game engine that offers no lag compensation. The person with the best bandwidth always wins.

You don't need a high 'bandwidht' to play online games, it's pretty irrelevant.

Re: Moving to Paris

a note to the server runner - it's subjective and maybe be useless and irrelevant but ill post it anyway :

regarding the general hitreg / lag in simple fra, it felt like some server settings were changed around april 1 to 4, 2018

before that ( ~ march 15 to april 1 ), hitreg was ok at low population and outside primetime. now the hitreg is poor all the time, even at night / morning with less than 10 players. and it looks like it is poor for the majority too, not just me. most inf players need longer time to hit and kill players

i wonder what info and tools are used to try to assess which overall settings result in least lag and best hitreg. cpu utilization - total packet loss - jitter - ping ?

anyone agrees that hitreg has become worse last 10 days ?
