Desert Combat Final Ready

I wanted to make a Desert Combat Final ready-to-play. So I created a vanilla Origin install + gamespy patch + Desert Combat 0.7 + DC Final. (I haven't run the game, so all files/settings is like factory-defaults).
Is it okay to share the download URL? Would appreciate to see it working for other people.

Re: Desert Combat Final Ready

Thanks
I didn't install Punk Buster since that requires special original install (it installs to separate folder.. and install reg keys). I leave it up to the enduser to install Punk Buster on his own.

I used Origin's version (since it's in my Origin downloads).. since it was the official version released as FREE... and it's already at the latest version. Just needed to manually apply the gamespy / widescreen fix... DC & DC_final luckily installs in sub-folders of BF1942 folder.
Afterwards just 7-Zip up BF1942 folder with Ultra compression.
I haven't ran the game so it's factory-defaults.

don't understand so far why changes are useful...

Nothing is new. I just created a ready-made zipped up archive, so it's easy to install in future... and for friends to install quickly. (save friends who don't want to go through many patches and different downloads)

Re: Desert Combat Final Ready

The only other BF+DC archive I know of is bf-game.com's but their instructions are in Russian.
Using google-translate helps a little, but screenshots are in Russian, and I don't know if the downloaded game will be in Russian?

Will compare this install with mine using file/folder diff/compare tool (Beyond Compare).

Re: Desert Combat Final Ready

I think we appreciate that your trying to help but perhaps going about it the wrong way by dropping links first without querying the different forums to see what would be wanted, and what was available.

Also - Where has then been distributed other then forums of users who already have Battlefield 1942 installed?
Also - What does this do when executed to a previously installed version of Battlefield 1942?

I'm compelled to provide alternate links...   DC, DC-Final, TankPanzers PB-Update

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_9xp … 3RjcEFpTE0

For users without Battlefield, ( None of which will read this )

Extensive resources are available, including this website download section.  Also ,  XTC Abandonware, MyAbandonware, IS82, 1942mods, bf1942f2p  and others. These are all prepatched versions with hash.

I'd note the MyAbandonware version includes Mac OS support and is the most recent listing among them.

Re: Desert Combat Final Ready

Hmm.. what's TanksPBupdate.exe?

I think I should've rephrased the original idea.
It should've been called PORTABLE "Desert Combat Final".

-------------------------we should be able to edit the original post----------------
PS IMPORTANT NOTE:
It's not an ALL-IN-ONE installer. There's no install process. It was meant to be a PORTABLE "Desert Combat Final" - eg. just unzip and play. It will write out the appropriate registry settings if they don't exist. Yes, you would need to run a cdkey changer. And yes, the Windows user account would need write-permission to registery.

If you ALREADY KNOW how to install BF/DC then this isn't for you.
If you deleted/removed BF long time ago and now just need to get the game installed fast... or maybe it's a friend who's never played FPS games prior to 2013 - I have many friends who has little experience in running about 3-4 installers, + patching just to play ONE game. I just made this PORTABLE Desert Combat Final so they just need to do one unzip, then run the game.

ZIP CONTENTS: I created a vanilla Origin install + gamespy patch + Desert Combat 0.7 + DC Final. (I haven't run the game, so all files/settings is like factory-defaults).
