Constant System Crash during a Game

Hello Players!
Currently I still use an old PC with (Intel 4 Pentium 3.4 GHz), (2.5 GB RAM), (Graphic: AMD Radeon HD 5450 With 1 GB memory). For a few Weeks now, either BF1942 or the PC has been constantly crashing during a running Game. Then the PC has to be restarted and I have to dial into BF again. In Addition, after Using the MG42 or a Flak, the Graphics Jerk extremely when My Soldier moves. If I Get shot down afterwards and I get active again on a "Respawn," everything goes back to normal.

Look, that you InternetSecurity is not scanning in the Background.  (Activate "Silent" or "Gaming" Mode while playing).

But i guess, (depends on the System), it could be the lack of the last "Service Stack Update" for Windows from march.

Which OS you have?

But on such an old System, you should check if your harddisk is still good.

You could run Chrystal Disk Info Portable to check it.

At last you could run chkdsk /f to check the harddisk for failures.

First step check that it isnt clogged with dust, if you not have done that already.

Hurrah, my PC is working well again!
The Problem was with the CPU fan, he did not bring sufficient Amount of air Because the Sliding Bearing ran dry.
The Processor became too hot and that's why there was a total Crash. I cleaned the Warehouse and oiled it fresh again. Now he's putting in full Power again.
On this Occasion, I checked all the Components. The Harddisk is only used for Operation with Battlefield.
Arkos, you had a good Tip because of Internet Security, it was constantly running in the Background and devouring Enormous Computing power. Through all these Measures, the PC now has a lot of Reserve again and runs absolutely stable.
No more Jerking, after Use of MG and Flak.

Yes, Lubricating Oil for Sintering lager.
The Camp consists of Sinterbronce. The Oil is stored in the Cavities of the Sinterbronce and forms a Glide Film.
At some Point the Oil is used up, then the Shaft rubs right on the Bronce. This Lubricating oil must be An Acid And must not resent. Small Motors usually also have such Bearings. When the Engine screams, it's mostly because the Storage Oil is used up. You add so much Oil to the Warehouse until it is saturated. This takes a While when there is Air in the Pores of the Bronce. The Air should be completely displaced as it expands when Heated and displaces the Oil. Finally, excess oil is wiped. You also don't need to be Afraid that the Oil would splash away in Operation. That's not the case, as it keeps in the Broncepores. With my Fan it has lasted for 15 Years until it was now consumed.

Computer fans run usually oilless, but when the ball bearing are old, perhaps it helps a bit.

So a cooling problem then, usually its dust covering everything so the air cannot circulate.

Anyway, nice to see someone fixing stuff instead of just throw it away and buy new. I did the same a while ago by heating up the bronze bearings and let them boil in the oil for a while.

Fans can be quite cheap to replace and often u can find second hand fans that fit.

Always be careful cleaning... i like to use a small (anti static?) brush (painters brush) and vacuum cleaner. Not drop the dust further inside the machine. Also do not unplug memory and other parts before cleaning else the dust/dirt might get into the connectors.

Keep eye on fan speeds (either with software of visual/audio check every few months). I like to use filters (cloth) also outside of the case to filter the incomming air a bit.

There is plenty software around to keep eye on temperatures. Try to note the working and MAX temps of systems that are new or still working properly.. put the note somewhere inside the case so later u can compare temps when u need to clean and compare again after u cleaned.

Be careful with heatsinks and thermal paste! Don't get the stuff on your board and connectors!

ESD (electro static discharge) is an issue too. Ground yourself on water tap before u work... dont wipe on your clothes and walk around a lot when u work on your system. Grounding is more important that most people think.

I also keep eye on talk manager to see what processes take too much cpu time. Get rid of software that never sleeps. (maybe by MSCONFIG tool or by hand if u can/want to).

But a PC or a CPU Cooler should not gather dust like this.

You should clean it from time to time with the vacuum cleaner.

And if make once a Gaming PC, then you should choose a Dustfree Case.  (With AirFilters).

I had a very similar problem last year. My PC was having problems and eventually it wouldn't boot. It turned out to be an overheating problem because the intake fans weren't working. They lit up but didn't spin. No idea how long they were broken lol. They literally broke apart in my hands when I replaced them. The temps of everything in the case were high because my CPU heatsink and GPU are fanless. But the HD was going over 60 degrees celcius! After I replaced the fans, the temps went down and PC was stable again Hopefully your PC stays stable!

Harddisk 60° is hot.

And it's the best if the fans are blowing outside. You should have a little negative pressure inside the case.

Ur so right sir! In my case i had not much to choose. I got this "gaming PC" from a client last year. Its an ASUS power PC with a coolermaster TYPE of case. The design is great and it has awesome power (love this ASUS build) but there is a real issue with negative pressure inside.

Also it is awfully dusty in my office here in the Netherlands. I been too busy with traveling and work to properly add filters. Sorry i may sound gay (except for the sunshine part) but i love this topic here. I can sit down and talk about computers with u guys whole day. And i know there is still a lot to learn for me, guys like Arkos and bud and many others here at simple (also u Sun) know plenty about gaming and computers.

Yesterday i ran into an old thread on another forum somewhere... i saw Tuia there.. and WOW... i impressed. He a smart man also! (i spend reading there like 3 hours, not because of just him but it was a very interesting topic about coding and such).
