B17 just took off and made a circle to gain altitude above base and you shot it down. Smells like planecamp to me. But arguable. I'd avoid that type of kills.

LOL Russ, but there is no fix for my lack of aim & dexterity.  It's lucky to hit the fuselage.

It's been said many times when a plane clears runway & turns towards battle, it's fair game.
I didn't swoop down to be a prick there, even within the rules.  Half a minute went by,
then b17 had almost same height as 109.  As they say "ya can't please everyone".

On video it's obvious that it turned to allied main base, so idk what battle you mean. Sry, I just see an interesting case, not judging anyone, US server has it's own admins do do it.

It's interesting you see it this way. That was my perception as the pilot.

However, now as I see it from the other view, I don't see how Vertigo would know that. I really don't see that from the video.



I was miffed, I admit. First, the map starts, and an asshat taxis right in front of me last second to take the B17. I get in. Said asshat takes it off into the mountain killing both of us.

****RANT**** - the first B17 of the map is always the best one. It seems as if my lot in life is to just barely miss out on the b17 and watch an asshat waste the first B17. ****END OF RANT****

So I start taking off in this second B17 (after a failed attempt at the church or two) and I use the chase cam and I hear a 109 over me. I don't see him, but I start doing a loop (left turn) trying to get some altitude. Honestly, I typically go around a lot of the perimeter of the map to get more altitude in the B17 before entering the fray, however, as I approached about the middle of the map, I thought I heard the 109 getting louder, so I made a turn to port (left) and was going to try and get altitude strait up the middle.  The rest is as seen in the video,

Later in the match there was another 109 and the Stuka over our main. It was Smacktard Saturday yesterday. Base rapers and (vehicle) shadow watchers... looking for cheap kills, chasing away our public.  Bums me out.

Oh, when it was first spotted it was turning right, towards the infield. But I learned
from the replay was that it was a short right, so that it could make a wide left back.

OG - sry I didn't know about the base rapers until you mentioned "red pilots" in chat.
It's good that you got the bomber up later in the round, and had a little time in it.
Arkos has a good point also - wait til the b17 kills someone, then shoot it down..

That may be a bit extreme. Its all judgement, but my personal judgement is more along the lines of when it had a potential to be a threat. Like Kharkov, turning in, or away to climb.

Once they clealy take off you can shoot them, your video shows that the b17 was going back to there main  thinking he was protected over there main. If he goes out of main erea once shoot him down!!

In the real world the B-17 or any heavy bomber would not be taking off next to the front lines and IF it was,  I'm sure it would be under fighter cover.  Soon as you leave the airfield or turn into the map...toasties.  There is an issue of flying top cap over the enemy base...perhaps not in this case, but when you maintain altitude over a plane that has taken off and keep that during your stalk...the bomber stands little chance, nor does a regular fighter.  Good pilots can and do fly with "cap like" mindsets.  Why give up an advantage.

You 'young guns' have indeed missed out on some AWESOME airbattles when this game was still 'fresh'.Coral sea with 32 players going all out in a team effort that kept the carriers afloat longer than the 10 minutes we see nowadays .You had a ton of engineers repairing and dedicated aa gunners and 'shipcleaners' for bailers...All resulted in a long and tense game with non stop airfights and mayhem all around.
As for BFA ;no  not really what you would call active anymore but this has been a game that has brought me so much I could never put it aside.
Some members still play now and then and I still proudly put BFA as a tag before my long and weird name!

Russ n me are always havin gf´s @ US, just bad that whereever we would meet one of us will have a crappy ping, but its ok as long as its playable huh.. im just glad when im havin a better connection to US without much laggs n discons, it (routing, idk) seems to differ from day to day..
