it makes the pc operator the administrator of all things on pc, so all the commands work correctly, I THINK>

Dink can explain it better than I.  I just know I did it a few months back and it solved some issues I had with my laptop trying to give instructions to laptop.

a computer's memory is split into kernel and user space; you can control user but not kernel space, since this is where very important system programs run. however, most user accounts are only given access to an allotted part of the user space; doing something as an administrator means that you're given full access to user space.
