firewall+antivirus

Hi Mates!

I used Eset Smart Security since 2003 and updated it to ESS6, the latest version. But i think my laptop is weak for it now, and makes it slow. I decided to change.

So i need your advice!

I use win7 64bit op system.

What do you recommend?  (maybe basic win7 firewall + nod32 antivirus only?)

Thx
Milka

Re: firewall+antivirus

first of all, uninstall everything that slows down your computer...
start, run, type "msconfig", go to startup tab, where you have to switch off all non essential programs and modules, after that go to "services" tab, (enable "hide all microsoft services"), and there switch off all non essential things. Then go to boot tab, advanced options, enable "number of processors", and select the maximum amount of processor cores. press ok.
install cache cleaner "ccleaner", and wipe all internet cache from your pc, it s a small great utility that helps a lot.
deinstall all antivirus software...defragment your HDD even though your windows 7 does it by itself........
go to run, type CMD, and type "chkdsk c:/f" , so it repairs eventual damages to your file system, upon next restart
restart your pc.....
i use a quite lite version of "microsoft security essential" (realtime antivirus with microsoft firewall on) , in which i put processor power at 20 % while scanning, together with malwarebytes (find the crack on piratebay, to register it, since it works for 15 days only, or buy a license wink
of course there are better protection systems then MBAM+MSAV , but these two work like a charm together on older pc-s
Eset sucks big time, btw wink)

Re: firewall+antivirus

Sometimes I think people choose firewalls and antiviral software by sonorous name, appearance of shortcut icon and trustworthy logo.
