Graphical evolution of FPS: 1992-2012

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMGsWR3ocZE

I wish I had played most of these old games. Newer games with all eye-candy don’t appeal me. smile I'm going to fire up Wolfenstein 3D! Old school shooter: no mouse! smile

Huh?! Battlefield 2 is way more popular than Battlefield 1942, there must be a reason. wink

And Justin Bieber is much more popular than Manu Chao. big_smile

The aiming in BF2 is total bullshit. Every weapon sprays even if you aim over iron sights. The nub launcher and bunnyhopper (jumps 3m high and lie down in the air) are annoying too. This game has much more bugs than BF1942.  wink

My first FPS game. Due to the limitations of the hardware, the player's view of the 3D environment was restricted to a fraction of the screen, with the player's HUD, a map of the surrounding area, and the player character's ID card comprising the rest of the screen space.

Yep, I've seen some BF2 videos where soldiers jump high and spin around unrealistically fast. Game looks fun, though. smile

This game sucks against Battlefield 1942. You should try that one.

that's my first shooter i think big_smile

Well i miss games like Medal of Honor or Call of Duty in this vid.
And tuia, BF2 is really not that good... i was attracted by it too but after the first few minutes i was disappointed because, as dary already said, the aiming really sucks and ye the only funny thing is stacking in a squad.
Arma2 looks nice because of it's huge landscape but i heard that the gameplay also sucks.

Another great game that brings back memories, from 1994, one of my first games, and what I always think of when people mention First Person Shooter! Dan Dolme!

The video also misses Codename Eagle, the predecessor game to BF1942, but 1999 was the year of Quake 3, no chances.

That's video footage probably from BF1942 v1.0. You could take down a plane with one clip from your assault gun, your soldier jumped around when running and there is no plane nose cam view. He is playing against bots.

I don't understand. You can manage (copy, delete, rename) your files with your current Windows version. I use DOSBox to mount the Games directory and launch the games.
