hi guys! Lecter i totally understand the way you feel. I started smoking when i was 15 and continued till about 25 when I  quited smoking and it lasted for 1 and a half years. in that time i got fat. like really fat. I smoked only lucky strike. after that i dont know why but i started to smoke again, but now im smoking dunhill blonde blend( its extra light if that counts). I totally support you and i know what it feels to want a cigarette. Good luck!

I smoke philip morris blue, about half the "strength" of a normal cig. You have also the grey one's, thats 1/10 of a normal sig, perfect for quitting because you have first less nicotine but still the habit of smoking. After a few weeks you start building off the habit (and not both of them at once).

You got fat cause you eat and drink too much shit and don't workout enough. And why do you smoke light? Do you think light cigarettes are healthier? big_smile It is just a cheap marketing trick. They put all kinds of shit in cigarettes. If you smoke better smoke these cigarettes:

Re: Smoking - stress

First of all its a matter of choice. I choosed to smoke again not because i got fat, but because it was my option to do so. like all nonsmokers choose not to smoke i choosed to smoke. The fact that i got fat during that time was an true observation and not all the guys that quit have to gain weight. there are some studies suggesting that a cigarette boosts up your metabolism by increasing the hart rate. I really dont think its a connection between quitting smoking and gaining fat, BUT it happens to most of the guys that quit. The reason that i've choosen dunhill white its because its easier on my throat. As i mentioned i smoked only lucky strike red for 10 years 1 pack or more per day. After my 1 and a half years pause my throat didnt like the feeling of red (king size) cigarettes. BTW: here in romania marlboro red is shitty.
for dary: my dear friend, i dont know who eats and drinks shit, but thats not me. My actual job enables me to have enough workout. trust me. and that american spirit not only that its not available in my country, but if it would be, it would be pretty expensive. i remember smoking american spirit in california last year and it costed 10-11 dolars.

Re: Smoking - stress

well, i dont have that problem, I exercise 5 days a week on a regular basis. Im 1,74 and weight 68Kg. Im far from fat and quitting smoking while exercising will have zero effect on my weight. But yes, on average, people who quit and have a non healthy life will for sure gain some extra kilos/pounds. Btw I have a balanced food regime. I only have a great meal a day, normally at lunch. And I eat 6 times a day, small but sufficient meals so I dont have to eat like crazy in 2 or 3 only. And the worse to do is to eat before sleeping unless is some tea or a cookie so you dont go to sleep empty stomach.

Fk...this seems more and more a girl talk...

Re: Smoking - stress

You are right that cigarettes boost metabolism, that's because your liver is removing toxics. But it is not much kcal.

And i didn't want to offend you, the most people drink and eat shit. For example white flour, it is the same like sugar and it makes fat. Soda and coke as well... i drink coke as well, but not so often. Most of the time i drink just water or tea without sugar. So if you gain fat, then you diet is not good. Or you thyroid is not working right, but that's rarely the case.

Yeah, I played waterpolo my whole youth before going to college. I gained a lot of muscle and wider shoulders, a few years back I had almost no visible fat and still weighted 75kg.

Very nice... do you use hummus or do you spray chemical manure? I would love to have my own big garden with healthy food and not those bioengineered shit. At least there are lots of organic shops here. wink

Re: Smoking - stress

I hope Lec doesnt mind our off topic here...so, the difference between now and when i was 26 in nutrition is that back then i used to eat fried stuff. french fries, fried fish, fried chicken and lots of fast food ( especially shaworma---this is really a caloric bomb) and drink carbonated drinks, like cola and mountain dew(man i loved mountain dew). i ate a lot. for instance, if now i choose to eat a portion of rice with vegetables and a grilled chicken drumstick, back then it was a big portion of french fries with a 2 fried chicken drumsticks, white bread and sourcream smile))
@dary: i know that what we eat from my grandparents is organic-they use chicken and cow manure for tomatoes, green peppers and the other vegetables found in the garden (although the grapes are sprayed with copper sulphate when they are young but thats really not a problem). the field plants that are for sale (wheat, barley, corn and sunflower) are not organic because here in romania, unfortunatelly, its about quantity and not about quality...Oh yes and the cow eats only grass in summer and organic corn plants in winter. Also, the sheeps are send with the shepperd in summer and in winter we keep them in the stables.

second day without sigs and i have no problem
this appear to be not so hard, when you not fight against youself
to realizing the root of smoking addiction, for me realy help the film "Allen Carr's Easy way to Stop Smoking"
there is same thoughts as in the book, but compressed in 1 hour, and main idea in it-do not fight, just realize

24 days today, i dont even think about them. If the thought occurs I just move along. I started to create defenses and mechanisms to overcame any craving whatsoever. My immediate defense is picturing in my mind all damage they do to teeth, mouth, lungs. That takes my mind out of it in a sec
