Preventing DDoS attacks

Does anyone here have a solution to keep some nerd from DDoS'ing my dedicated box; and my single game server? I'm pretty sure I know who it is; but still really nothing I can do based on that.

Re: Preventing DDoS attacks

Anyone?

I know nothing, nor have accomplished anything in my life, so step by step would be helpful. Maybe I'll take you out to dinner sometime and get you laid.

Re: Preventing DDoS attacks

There are some DDoS protections like hardware firewalls, you'll have to contact your host for information, but it's not cheap and they may not provide it.
Not knowing the level of the attack you may block the IP addresses with a software firewall and restrict the incoming traffic.
