Modding madness

It has to stop. So many tweaks on maps I can barely recognize them, playability wise. I hate how bulge has turned out, its mainly a map for tank campers now, all the rest cant do shit or very little. I hate how Bocage with extra tanks (tigers) turned out, makes it  heaven for tank camp noobs.

Honestly, leave the maps as they were meant to play, some little additions changes are fine but when the map loses it essence it takes the fun away of it. Im hating maps I used to love playing. Even EL AL which i love, and im no pilot, used to be great overall. Now a tank is as usefull as zooker on Coral. Just targets...

And so many other maps...

yes those 3 have lost the essence of the maps. Even Battleaxe I would remove the extra heavy tanks. We need to give chance to players that dont use them to only camp.

c´mon SK, Bulge is tanks, tanks and more tanks camping. Im not saying revert it to the original map but decrease its numbers.

the serious tankers will, the ones that love them, the rest, the ones that use them to compensate their lack of skill will be forced to leave as infs, snipers, engs, zookers, whores, whatever.

that´s not a real concern and not that a big of a issue. For that logic give more extra tanks to all maps that have them so we dont have those possible fights. Plus Aberdeen has too many too. Infs or non tankers should be able to take flags more often there as it used to be.

Sorry but in the earlier days, there were also full servers up to 60+ with "standard" maps. Stop this modding fever....Use Rtw Server for it....Some maps need a new "hair"cut...

It is almost no fun to play on cool maps like bulge/bx etc

Thx Sim, i was thinking I was the only expection to the rule...

When I play Bulge, for example, and I see an inf or any other non tanker playing as opponent i think to myself "hey man, you are here too, glad to see you..." but in my mind its always "how the f*ck will I get thru 10 tanks camping"

agreed with LEC , for me aberdeen has lost its MOJO due to way too many tanks, i also agree that the original amount of tanks on aber is not good, but something like FG arena had, would be nice..... bulge should maybe be left like it was at the beginning, with maybe a few tanks extra, but only a few,,,,but El al would be great if left as it was on vanilla, and leave for plane campers another el al totaly moded, like it is on CTF right now, so 2 EL AL wink))

You don't need few tanks extra on bulge George. As an infantry you can have lots of fun on this map. On Aberdeen you need some extra tanks because as inf you can't do much. But there are still too many imo.

no dary, you misunderstood what i meant , i meant "original(vanilla) bulge plus maybe 2???? tanks",because i think it s really too few, what was it , 3 tanks in total on allied side ???, i really dont remember anymore, someone refresh me , pls
aberdeen however has way too many tanks, and actually inf's can help a lot on holding the city flag, dont they ?

I meant few tanks extra on unmodded Bulge of course. Don't need to add more tanks to unmodded Bulge. As infantry you can also have lots of fun. With so many tank you are just dying as infantry.

Maybe give allies 2 sherman more in base and axis 1 p4.

I´m not fond of overflow of machinery. Like said before, on some maps too many tanks make inf useless: u just cant get a flag ´cause there`s always another tank keeping it gray. IMO in maps like Bulge or Bocage the idea was that:
" if we kill enemy`s first wave of tanks we have x seconds to set up defences (mines, zooks etc...) " Sure that means that ppl need to  play at least a bit as a team( which isnt too common on public but it happens...) but the difference is huge compared to feeling that " ok i killed one tank, only 4 more to go and i might get the flag grey..."

agree with u maasika, but i think we need to agree which map is dominantly which - few examples:
- aberdeen, bulge - tank map, so mod it with additional tanks
- coral, battle for britain - pilot map, so mod it with add. planes (but do not put torpedo boats as now is on coral because they can sunk carrier fast)
- stallin,berlin - infantry head on map, mod without tanks/nades - very good (played lecs berlin other day - zookas and knifes, lots of fun)
- all other maps - have feeling that pilots are given priority, too many planes makes tanks and all other vehicles just targets (specially on el al and gazala, or guadal).

so to conclude - give more planes on pilot maps, more tanks on tank arenas, be smart on moding other maps (not adding too much vehicles, specially planes)

agree with most said..berlin was quite funny with zookas and knifes only..el al, fewer planes in base, those 2+2 in north "villages" are good idea..this way on el al, pilots will destroy most ground vehicles..aberdeen should be left with just (plenty) of tanks because it's a large map and to be on foot is not good (running 5 minutes to get to first flag), and without planes..el al CTF not bad (prefer conquest though) but confusing is that both brits and germans have all the same planes..if you like variety, maybe give germans all axis planes and brits all allied type of planes..turbo jeeps, great idea..kursk, maybe 2 planes instead of 3..coral see without torpedo boats..invasion of phillipines, was good idea with those jap planes up north, but maybe just 2-3 of them and place them on other place, because they are fast enough to destroy american planes still on the ground, otherwise boring big map..good idea making that island flag gray..bocage excellent map, good ratio of all vehicles..market garden, maybe just to remove 2 aa guns in the middle area (near big bridge and half way between curch and small bridge), too small map for pilots if many aa guns..

I mentioned something about a map modification in another thread. In my opinion it's not just the Bulge map, because there are also other maps such as Aberdeen, where infantry plays no role and the map more reminiscent of the historic Kursk than Aberdeen. By increasing the number of tanks on one side requires raising the number of tanks and on the other, as well as increasing the number of aircraft causes increasing the numbers of anti-aircraft guns that did not add on the battlefield but in the main bases, and so it goes to infinity. The only thing that I liked when it comes to modifications, is that on some maps players can spawn in the armored cars. Increasing the number of vehicles on the map in order to "improve" playing on the server of 64 players only leads to the fact that "choke" and emphasizes infantry fighting another kind of battle.

Maps were originally designed for 32 players.
Imagine Aberdeen map 30 players spawning each side, by default 6 light tanks and 2 heavy tanks available at main base, so 14 out of 30 can use the tanks, the others go on foot. smile
