I would add also that an admin isn't above of the player.
An admin is only a player who accept to give his time to server for that everybody can play according to the same rules.

My thought : I'm not superior to others, I'm just a volunteer

Thank you and agreed.
An admin is very much similar to a coach of a sportsteam:
He can manage the players, guide, instruct, but also kick you off the team smile

Those who have been, or are in sports can relate to this ideology of mutual respect.
A team can perform very different depending on their relationship to the coach, good or bad.

But regardless if an admin is present, one should respect the overall rules.

You can always PM me.
I just wanted to play a fair game and really want to help everyone who wants that also.

It is not up to me to tell you how to admin, as this is not my "territory".
So it would be up to Tuia, and I'm sure he will guide you.

However I can share my experiences, and maybe you can draw something from that.

This is my experience...

Follow the rules yourself, enforce them, and keep your path clean.
Simple, but there are different ways to do that.

I find the "Calm, Consistent and decisive" to be the best approach.
Don't argue with players in public, direct them to the forums - if they have complaints.
(debate the issue briefly is ok, for example:)

"No that is not allowed here, as written in the rules: Taxi to planes is illegal and will be punished accordingly" - Goto team-simple.org for rules or complaints.  /END

Players will sometimes purposely try to pick a fight with you, to undermine your authority and abilities.
They will try to knock you out of bounce, so they can display your weaknesses.
- Those should be dealt with immediately, and again direct them to the forums.
If the general public have no respect, or lose faith in you... your time as an admin can be difficult.
So in my book it's important to lay down a strict but fair tone from the beginning.
However maintain some form of leniency, give players a chance to redeem themselves.

Don't lose your cool, be consistent and decisive in your decisions.

Admins make mistakes too - no doubt. When you do, admit to it and apologize to the other part.

Be nice, greet players, explain issues short terms, but don't argue - handle the situations immediately.
Show respect, and earn respect.

The way you portray yourself, is how you are perceived.
Be an ass, and you are treated like one. smile

It's not uncommon to hear about players complaining about an admin, happens all the time.
However hearing about admins against admins is quite rare, and really shouldn't happen.

You have a set of rules, you follow, enforce, execute. Sure some decisions can be questioned, but for an admin to completely disregard rules and see him/herself above em?

I am not familiar with all the gamenicks, and who is who. But there was Cyrus, kongo, and now Anubis?
(.. sure there is more..)

But with all due respect to Tuia, it makes me wonder: What DOES it exactly take to become an admin here?
Is there a trial period, screening process, or do you just ask for it?

Just seems to be a handful of admins either too young or not fit to handle the responsibility.

It is always hard to find a good admin, and several is even harder.

Just an idea.. (not sure if it would work?)

But how about a virtual server on a drive, throw windows on it and go?

Yep.. know him all too well.
He is after me the minute I join a server. I don't talk to him, stay far away and mind my own business.
But it that dosen't help one bit, he will teamdamage, teamkill, follow you around.

2 days ago he was flying around "stalking" me, trying to teamkill me in air.
Fortunately I am a far better pilot, and he failed to kill me.

Frank vitnessed his actions and kicked him.

I have never spoken to yawn, never done anything to provoke - as far as I know.

But in general he is after everybody, disrupting the peace.

He monitors the server, spectates and handles the troublemakers.

Trust me, I much rather give them a nice smack around..

! This is not directed towards you George, but the admin team in general.

I see a daily amount of troublemakers that SHOULD be kicked/banned, atleast 5 on each team.
It's usually the bottom 5 with minus score, but they are allowed to stay till autokick takes care of it.
Meanwhile the disrupt the game untill that happenes...

When players in-game notify the admins, they are sometimes ignored.

If I say:  "#5 Intentional TK" , I exspect the admin to warn #5.
^ So that it goes into log, and admins + players can keep an eye on that specific player. If it happens multiple times, player #5 should be kicked.

SOME admins react, others don't.

Then there are the ones disrupting the game, and hiding it well. Meaning, they will basecamp and come up with a lame excuse. Teamkill, and claim it was an accident, teamdamage, destroy friendly vehicles and when reported - claim YOU are lying.
You have no argument against this, as it is word against word.
Lately, some players find it interesting to pick on ME specifically. Because I DO report players, I DO complain, not just for my own sake, but because it's disruptive to overall gameplay. Then I am considered a whiner, dramaqueen, and eventually ignored.
While infact, I am doing community service.

Whenever a player reports an offence, it's up to the admin to atleast investigate the case.

Don't tell me you are busy, or there is too much to keep an eye on. It's your duty as an admin.
I very well know how it is, as I am an admin myself on several servers.

You put aside your own game, to monitor the server and keep it tidy and clean.

I am overall satisfied with the admins, and appriciate their efforts. After all it is a voluntary job, but if you DO sign up for this duty. Be prepared to spend time doing your job, there is alot to handle.

I play to win, I play serious, so ofcourse I report players when I see them. I come to have fun, and disruptive gamplay ruins the fun for me, you, and everybody else playing.

To the trolls. Grow the f*** up.. really. We come to play and enjoy a good game, if you have nothing better to do than fuck up the game- then piss off.  Go play some ball, build a treehouse, or spend a few weeks in school. (that would do you some good).

I would like to see the admins step it up, Warn/kick more and live up to your philosophy of "keeping a clean playground".

Judging from these videos, some decent pilots. Unfortunately the real spectacular ones don't play anymore, atleast as far as I know.
I haven't seen them for years, but perhaps they just moved on to a new game.

There was a few of them, that made me cream my pants..

A few competed on Clanbase on other international tournaments, and as they went up there.. You could immediately sense the skill and confidence, and eventhough you KNOW how to do it .. You still wondered.. How do they do it !?! hehe

#16 Re: Feedback » Server population -2- » 2014-07-21 22:43:45

If I may... concerning mismanagement (harsh word, but it was used in the very first few posts)

It doesn't help the server, community, players or even admins themselves - that admins change maps as they please during or right after another one has started. As it happened the other day...
I don't know who it was, and it dosen't matter. Someone made a request to skip Battle Of Britain, and less than 50 seconds into the map - it was suddenly changed. Cyrus asked who it was, and no one responded.

The majority had no say, and there was no vote or discussion. It was simply... done.

Small matter, but nonetheless a silly move (in my opinion). There was a lot of us who WANTED to play "BOB". In the end it was one guy who overruled the whole server.

Another issue is the attitude of some admins..

The S!MPLE servers seem to run smooth, lot of players decent admins and in general a good experience. However, some admins have an attitude problem. I don't know how someone becomes an admin here, if you have a screening process, trial, or people just ask and voila?!

I won't mention names here, but I can send tuia? a pm..
I have no intentions of stirring up shit, just figure the BIG CHEESE outta give a warning or a reprimande to his crew.
Remind them of their duty. that's all.

As I said.. It's a pleasure to play in the servers, even with all the offenders and goofballs. wink

#17 Re: Report Abuse » [BAN Request] stavi.ru » 2014-07-18 18:30:04

Mr.Giggly / Stavi.ru made sure to keep his KDR out of suspicion, by getting points to hide it.
He was shooting at teammates, getting in front of their jeep, plane or tank, causing THEM to teamkill.
That's why his KDR won't reflect his actions.

I didn't come here to argue, but to report a disruptive player. The logs tell the truth, and if you can't see it.. well.. Then let it be.
I have my own way of dealing with such players, but I prefer the admins taking care of it.

There was nothing personal in it, just figured I would do something for a change.
The reason I kept repeating it in chat, was because no admin reacted. Simple as that.
I know how disturbing it can be, and you have alot to keep an eye on.
I have been an admin myself for 10+ years, Clanbase cup supervisor, TWL and so on..

This is why I try to help by pointing out troublemakers, and what you do about it - is your business.
At Moongamers and EA117 we appreciate when the community steps up, and help out.

Secondly.. I am having difficulties understanding your "english" (no offense), so I am sorry if I misunderstood you?

Anyways..
Keep an eye on stavi.ru, I am sure he will cause trouble in the future as well.
I will be sure to record his actions next time.

So pls grow up and make not so a Drama, in this moment i can told you a lier, then in this moment you called me (when i was online) nothing happend! What befor dunno so pls!

P.S: You have a Thread about this Guy, thx for Doppelpost!

Grow up? Listen to yourself and your responses to a completely civil request.
Anyways...

Stavi was playing under "Mr.Giggly" first, and that's where I started to report his behavior. You (I assume is St0n3d?) did not respond to me at any time, which lead me to believe you were ignoring it. A simple... "im on to it" would have been sufficient. After renaming to Stavi.ru - he continued to cause havoc on the airfield, even crashing on purpose into fellow teammates.. the list goes on.
After which you join joined my side and he stopped, probably because HE KNEW you were spectating him?

This is not the first encounter, he has been like this all day. Infact I remember incidents with him a few days ago aswell.

Call me whatever you want, I don't care. I'm merely reporting disruptive players to the S!MPLE team, and what actions to take is up to you.
If thats a "dramaqueen" in your book, then I think you need to update your dictionary.
Ofcourse I was slightly dissapointed.. and my post indicates it surely, but its nothing personal.

Several others can testify to all of the above, as we were several on the airfield.

Call me a liar? Check the logs, and you will eat you own words. wink

Thank you for providing a solid BF42 server to play in, particular in these "lean" times.
- But also a big THANKS to the admins in-game, you are doing a great job.

Unfortunately you can't monitor a server 24/7, I know this all too well.
So in that regard, I'd like to bring your attention to a few troublemakers:

"DEFAULTPLAYERNAME" - A constant offender, comes in - teamkills /disconnects and repeats this over and over again.
"Stavi.rus" - Continous tk'ing amongst many other offenses.
"FROST" - Disregarding rules on several ocations.

Just to name a few...  wink

I am sure you are already familiar with the above mentioned, but DEFAULTPLAYERNAME really needs a long vacation.
He/she are constantly repeating the same offenses on daily basis.

Again, thank you for providing the server and admin service. It's much appriciated.
