FinnWars is a Battlefield 1942 total conversion mod originally developed by Iceflake Studios in 2004. It brings Finnish wars; the Winter War, Continuation War and War of Lapland to BF42. Changes to the basegame include, but are not limited to, dozens of new maps (some of them historically accurate), many new weapons and vehicles and realistic gameplay.
The mod has received a new update this november by a fan (me) and this update brings 7 new maps, couple of new weapons and countless different changes and improvements.
A yearly event will be once again held in 6th of December, independence day of Finland, and we welcome everyone to join. Event lasts for the whole day but the "prime time" is usually located around 16.00-02.00 CET.

Hi! I got an idea from henk's post above to create a BF42 modding discord: (I assume there isn't one yet)
I haven't found any discord server for Battlefield 1942 modding, let alone an active general BF42 discord channel, so I've created one myself. If there already is one, then please tell me so I may join it and delete this one. 
But feel free to join there and share your work. I find Discord to be much more flexible system to share snippets of your work and knowledge on mod development than a clunky forum. If this gets popular, I bet that you will get help on your modding problems a lot faster in the discord rather than on bfmods.com for an example. Not saying that this server is meant to replace it.
I've also created a channel for general BF42 discussion. For an example you can organize events and game sessions there if you want to.

I've released a new patch for this mod. It fixes some bugs and adds two new weapons and some random content:

If you have a previous version of this mod, I recommend deleting the old version from your "mods"-folder before extracting this one there.
First time installers: Remember to read readme.txt for installation quide! Otherwise the mod wont work as intended.
I also decided to hold a map making contest with a real prize!

FinnWars 1918 is a minimod of an older mod called FinnWars. It's based on Finnish Civil War. Finland declared independence after the fall of Russian Empire. Not soon after this, the Finnish Peoples Delegation consisting of unhappy Finnish workers, tenants and ideological socialists declared a revolution against the Finnish goverment. This mod allows you to fill the boots of a soldier from either side. You can choose to defend the goverment as a devout patriot from the White side, or if you feel a bit more disgruntled towards the bourgeois and landowners then join the side of the socialist Reds.
This mod is under development and it's currently in crude public alpha state. I've been developing this as a hobby for several years and now I have finally managed to get this mod into a state I feel comfortable publishing. It's rather rough around the edges but I will keep fixing it.
Differences to FinnWars and Battlefield 1942:
-Two new factions: Finnish Socialist Workers' Republic (Reds) and Finnish Senate (Whites)
-New weapons and maps
-Redesigned GUI
-Some new gameplay implementations
-Focus on more realistic and slower paced gameplay
FW1918 doesn't have singlepayer- /Co-op -maps. Semi-mobile machine guns and kit limitations would never work with BF42's AI-system. This is purely a multiplayer-mod just like FinnWars.
Installing:
Extract the .zip file to your ...EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods -folder. After that you need to delete all menu_***.rfa-files from FinnWars's folder. If this isn't done correctly the GUI-elements wont work! (A bug in BF42 I can't fix) Read the readme.txt-file for more information.
Server:
This server will close around early to mid january unless this mod gains popularity.

The mod propably has players on server during and around 6th of December 2019. This is Finnish independence day and that is the traditional day when Finnish FinnWars players gather to play FinnWars.
