Thank you sir. I have actually downloaded and installed the game from a torrent called "Battlefield 1942 + Expansions". It contains Battlefield 1942, The Road To Rome and Secret Weapons of WWII expansions. Along with the keygens for each and the 1.61 patch.

The gameSpy patch you sent me. What exactly does it do and how do I use it? I currently load the game from the execute file shortcut created during the installation. If I want to play one of the expansions, I have to choose the Custom Game option in the BF interface. But when I do, there are very few ~ if any ~ servers.

There is another GameTracker website ~  https://www.gametracker.com/search/bf19 … =50#search ~ that features maybe 30 servers. But most of them use the maps from BF1942. I also installed GameTracker Lite, but don't really understand how it works or how to add servers.

Thanx again for the links.

Hey all,

I'm not familiar with how servers and map files and mods and all that crap work. But I've played Battlefield 1942 for some time. I know a lot of the old servers no longer work ~ from what i've read. And I've downloaded a bunch of new map files and placed them in the Level folder. I'm just not sure how to use them yet. When I load BF1942, the same server interface opens up and I'm shown the same old maps and many servers that are unpopulated.

I have several questions I need answers to if someone would be so kind.

1) Am I correct in placing my map files in the levels folder?
2) Where can I find servers that feature these maps?
3) How do I add servers that I do happen to find?
4) Where can I find the most popular map packs?
5) And last, how do I use and where do I place mod files?

There may be other questions I have depending on the answers I get here. Please be patient. I'm a 55 year old gamer geek who cut his teeth on 8 bit arcade games.

Thanx,
